Re: What do you guys think about us taking Tim Tebow

How would you feel if the Rams pick just came in in the 2nd round as Tim Tebow
I would be very disappointed. I wouldn't start thinking Tebow for this team until the 4th.

Do you think he is an upgrade over our current QBs?
As a QB? No, he is not an upgrade.
As a backup RB? Yes, he's an upgrade over our current QBs.

Re: What do you guys think about us taking Tim Tebow

If we took him as our "TEH GLORIOUS FRANCHISE QB!!!!!!11111oneone" in the 2nd Round, I would probably begin openly campaigning for Devaney's ouster. We can do better than Tebow at our quarterback, since I doubt he'd be better than Tony Banks.

Now taking him as a late round fullback....that I might agree with.

I have to agree with you on Boller but way toooooo early to count Null out. P. Manning, Aikman, Elway and the list can go on did not look good as rookies. Just remember Null has played only a few games and last game he played with a shaken O-line and without Jackson.

Give him some time before throwing him out in traffic.

    Go Rams

If Tim Tebow has been skating by on just raw athleticism and an iron will to win... then WOW!!!!

Imagine what some REAL coaching will do!!!

He is exactly what the Rams need.

Well i dont think Pat Shurmur can be considered "real coaching"

Re: What do you guys think about us taking Tim Tebow

maybe i lack good football evaluation skill, but why in the world would you want to turn him into a fullback? the guy plays quarterback, and he IS a quarterback, hes just extremely raw and unpolished. What i draft him in the first 4 rounds? No. We have other needs and wouldnt have the time to polish into being an NFL quarterback. If hes there in the 5th round i would definetely consider. I guarantee he wont be a Ram however because there is no way he falls to the 5th round.

Even if he doesnt have all the tools to be a good NFL quarterback (which i think he does, more in the Ben roethlisberger mode) He just isn't what the Rams needs right now. If for no other reason he will be picked up no later than the end of the 3rd round because of his leadership and fan recogniton. Id rather have a guy who has played fullback, to be my fullback personally..

Tim Tebow has no right ever taking a snap as an NFL QB. Then again, neither did Ryan Leaf and we saw what happened...

What it would do is require him to succeed at all the things he hasn't been doing well (footwork, throwing motion, release, checking down, etc.). The fact that none of those things appear to have improved over time is not encouraging. He's a good athlete and by all accounts a good worker, but at best he's a project. And I prefer not to take projects until the mid to later rounds of the draft.

For anyone watching the Sugar Bowl, Brian Billick just did a nice job of explaining why Tebow is most likely going to struggle as a QB at the next level.

Re: What do you guys think about us taking Tim Tebow

But... but... Tebow has heart!! He can literally WILL his team to victories at any time (except that SEC title game)!!

Sorry, I don't mean to mock. But I think it's obvious at this point that Tebow has a lot of question marks and issues with how he's going to transition to a pro quarterback. It's frustrating to see those issues almost always brushed off by Tebow advocates who think leadership and heart are the only factors worth discussing.

Re: What do you guys think about us taking Tim Tebow

Love the kids heart, work ethic, and leadership. Unfortuantely, that alone does not make you a quarterback in the NFL.

Because of the above mention strength I do believe he can be a work project in the NFL on a team willing to let him develop into a Pro QB. He may even suprise some of us.

The Rams have so many needs that drafting a player for development in the early rounds just does not make any sense. I would bet that Jacksonville will get Tebow in round 2 or 3 and let him set behind Garrard.

    Go Rams

Re: What do you guys think about us taking Tim Tebow

Honestly i dont think he will have the same transition as Ryan Leaf.

Tebow has some great work ethic and if he get the right coaching he might just become a solid QB.

Maybe Mike Shanahan with the Bills if does get signed

Or Bill Bellicheck and the patriots they seen how a power runner like Ronnie Brown runs the wildcat.

Re: What do you guys think about us taking Tim Tebow

Count me in as one of the few who think Tebow would be perfect for the Rams. He has the perfect skill set for the NFL. His ball handling skills qualify him to be the guy that wears the orange safety vest with the big "K" on the back...

For those of us who missed it, could you summarize what Brian said?

He contrasted the throwing motion of Tebow and Pike. Where Pike keeps the ball high and releases with a compact, effecient motion, Tebow keeps the ball low and starts his "wind-up" from near his thigh pad.

Billick noted that all that motion, that inefficient release will not work in the NFL because the throwing lanes are too tight. NFL secondaries will see that motion and be on top of it much quicker than the college secondaries he has faced. As well, Billick noted that Tebow does not play in a pro style offense. He basically makes one read and executes; he doesn't have a progression to go through like he will in the NFL.
