What players do you NOT want... and why?
This isn't a topic for listing players at positions the Rams don't need, for example, as a Rams fan you probably don't want to spend a first round pick on Cam Newton
But are there any players at positions the Rams may wish to draft that you would not want the Rams to pick
For me, it's Auburn DT Nick Fairley. Most mocks have him going #8 to the Titans, and before the draft process it was almost a toss up between him and Marcell Dareus as to who was going to be the top DT in the draft. However, Fairley's questionable decisions, such as missing a meeting with the Miami Dolphins and missing a flight, alongside the questionable work effort and "one year wonder" status mean he is possibly going to slip. I just hope he goes before the Rams pick, if only so it drives a better player down towards our pick.
EDIT: Accidently posted this in Ram Talk... is it possible for it to be moved?
Re: What players do you NOT want... and why?
I was looking at that too, the fact that this is in the wrong forum.
But to stay on topic and stay positive, I would have to say that I am not calling out any player names anymore with regards to my opinion of them. My personal feeling is that I just do NOT want player X or player Y who will come in and not be productive, but I trust that Devaney and co. will avoid this mistake.
Re: What players do you NOT want... and why?
There are several on my list, but the one that rises above the rest is Mark Ingram. Injury concerns, and have no interest in drafting a RB in the 1st round.
Re: What players do you NOT want... and why?
I'd pass on Jon Baldwin. Just not interested in a prima donna.
Also, I'd pass on anyone described as having a "questionable work ethic". That is just a polite way of saying "lazy as crap".
Re: What players do you NOT want... and why?
There aren't a lot of players that have huge red flags for me, which is why I haven't done a "10 foot pole" list this year. However, I do have some real question marks associated with the following players:
Mark Ingram - would not even give him a thought in Round 1.
Jonathan Baldwin - does the "me" attitude ever really go away?
Robert Quinn - seems like a "boom or bust guy. I'd consider him, but he makes me nervous.
J.J. Watt - bad fit (Adam Carriker, the Sequel).
Ryan Williams - expected him to test better in Combine/Pro Day drills.
Allan Bailey - Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane?
Re: What players do you NOT want... and why?
I agree on Watt and Baldwin, I wouldn't be happy with those guys.
I've also heard that Marvin Austin has interviewed badly, with some teams not happy with how he has evaded responsibility for his actions and suspension last season.
But then again, in this season of misinformation, the deaf man is king

Bingo. Plus, he went to Pitt, which is an automatic disqualifier for me. :D
Re: What players do you NOT want... and why?
Ready for this one?
I do not want Da'quan Bowers. he is a great pass rusher but his health. Over the past couple years we have seen too many injuries and i dont think i can live through another Adam Carriker type injury problem. I really had high hopes for carriker in spags D in 2009. He went through knee surgery then had problems with that same knee after the surgery that should tell u something.
Re: What players do you NOT want... and why?
I wouldnt draft Fairly if he were to fall to us. I am an Auburn fan and can see what the guy can do. However I am not a big fan of the 1 year of production kind of guys.
Re: What players do you NOT want... and why?
I'm definitely a bit scared of drafting Bowers, but i don't know if its just a team in the 10-20 range that has been spreading the rumours about his knee in the hopes that he falls. Maybe its the Rams doing it :D
Re: What players do you NOT want... and why?
I actually really like Watt. Carricker failed because of injury and he never returned to form.
Here my "don't likes"
Cory Luiget - just watch his film, he is not impressive at all. What does he bring that we dont already have. I think Devaney and Spags are putting up a smokescreen with this guy anyway.
Kerrigan - I dont think he will be a strong NFL pass rusher
Akeem Ayers - Plays very stiff, and plays upright

I also tried to watch a little bit on Luiget, and I can't seem to see the infatuation we apparently have with him. Good thing I'm not making the football decisions for our team.
As for the rest of my list,
Bowers' injury and only one year of production scares me off. The latter also for Fairley.
I am also uncomfortable with Adrain Clayborn. The condition combined with falling off the face of the earth this year spells trouble to me.
Not that we'd draft one, but I wouldn't touch any of the OTs this year. I just watched a segment on the NFL network where one of the analysts proclaimed Roger Saffold to be better than anyone coming out this year. Combine that with our QB pick last year and we made some really solid choices.
