What position should be the Rams' first target in the post-draft FA/trade market?
Where should the Rams be looking?
Re: What position should be the Rams' first target in the post-draft FA/trade market?
I said DT, mainly because both John Henderson and Chris Hovan are becoming free agents so there could be a fair few available.
Re: What position should be the Rams' first target in the post-draft FA/trade market?
I said back-up RB because we did nothing to help SJ get some help in this draft. I wanted Joe McKnight when day 2 began, but we took Gilyard, which is probably a good pick. We need a change of pace back as most good teams have. I don't know if Brian Westbrook can fill that role, if we sign him.
I now know that Devaney and Spags want BIG players which is an NFC East mindset, so small guys like McKnight will never cut it with our talent evaluators. We'll see what we've got when camp starts. Looking forward to that.
Go Rams!
Re: What position should be the Rams' first target in the post-draft FA/trade market?
I had to narrow it down to one position, so I chose back up HB, just because we have no one there at this point, and the type of offense we're running is going to need someone to spell Jackson from time to time.
DT is another high need, but we can at least field some starters at that spot right now.

I picked WR, because I have a feeling we'll land Westbrook anyway. I really think we need a reliable vet WR that we can count on to make those 3rd and long 1st down catches. Someone like Laverneus Coles.

Using the logic you just stated, shouldn't DT be higher then RB? considering we have a 'starter' at RB but only one real starter at DT?!?

I just changed my mind after looking at our DT lineup. That's a scary bunch of has-beens, and might-not-ever-bes. Apart from Ryan, not one of them would be starting on another team, and Ryan's not even a lock to start on most teams.

I'm considering Ryan and Robbins starters at this point, with Darrel Scott rotating in.
Re: What position should be the Rams' first target in the post-draft FA/trade market?
No doubt in my mind it should be DT.
I believe we will sign a back-up rb but DT is the most important right now.
I would love to see us go after Cofield from the Giants.
Apparently they were in trade talks to the Saints during the draft for a second day pick.
I know he hasn't signed his tender yet so I'm not sure what his availability is but I wouldn't mind given up a 2nd day pick. Conditional on our placement. If we are in the top 5 again make it a 3rd rounder... if we are not make it a second rounder.
Re: What position should be the Rams' first target in the post-draft FA/trade market?
If SJ goes down Darby, and Oby are all we have, and THAT gapping hole will stop the offense flat. BU RB is our biggest need imo. The D line is Spags area, he can get something from nothing there, as he will have to now lol.
GO RAMS!!!
Re: What position should be the Rams' first target in the post-draft FA/trade market?
I think backup RB is a gaping hole, like many, I was disappointed we didn't address it. A team that did address RB, in a big way, was Seattle, although trading with a division foe is unlikely, if by their acquisitions Justin Forsett became available, I would snatch him up in a heartbeat, always liked the kid, and I think he showed a lot when he played last year.
If he wasn't available, I suppose I would take Julius Jones, but the price would have to be extremely cheap.
That being said, I know I'm from Idaho (I am not biased because he's a Vandal) but I would not be shocked at all if DeMaundray Woolridge made this team and could compete for the backup spot.
Re: What position should be the Rams' first target in the post-draft FA/trade market?
I would like to see us upgrade our LB corp.
Re: What position should be the Rams' first target in the post-draft FA/trade market?
a backup runningback and talent to compete at outside linebacker are two musts for this team i think.
Re: What position should be the Rams' first target in the post-draft FA/trade market?
lots of oppurtunites to grab a back up RB...either through UDFA..trade...or with lots of teams drafting them there may be a few that will get cut...it`s important to have one but i dont think they will target one first as the threads question asked...i think OLB or DT will be addressed first..but i went for OLB..Vobora & Diggs are serviceable..but behind them there`s nothing much atall..Chamberlain i think is just for ST`s and who else is there ..Larry Grant??
Re: What position should be the Rams' first target in the post-draft FA/trade market?
I guess you take what you can get. But the Giants DE, Osi Umenyiora would instantly pump up our defense across from Chris Long. I think he would be productive back in Spag's rotation.
