Re: What is a successful off-season as far as Free Agent Signings go....
The Rams need about 10 guys.
IMO I'd like to get 2-3 guys who are elite and still young enough to be here in 3 years (Finnegan and Jones I've never watched but the reviews seem to indicate they are in that range) and 7-8 one year fillers.
The Rams aren't going to make the playoffs this year by who they acquire in free agency. They are still building the core of their team. You build the franchise via the draft and they've done that so far with the trade from 2 to 6.
Re: What is a successful off-season as far as Free Agent Signings go....
I think we will get Jones or Winston....probably not both. There is much left in FA as far as WRs and RBs so we have to find some value.
I think we the Rams want to fill out DT and OT in free agency so they can stick to impact players in the draft at WR/RB/OLB etc....
If we do get Wintson and Jones to sign -- I think our chances of drafting Trent Richardson greatly increase
Re: What is a successful off-season as far as Free Agent Signings go....
For me J Jones, E Winston, and C Finnegan would be great! Then add a few role players... I think many are going to consider this FA a bust as we did not land one of the elite WR.
Re: What is a successful off-season as far as Free Agent Signings go....
The Rams started this process with a need to find (at a minimum), 11 new potential starters:
FB, WR1, WR2, OG/RT, C, DT1, DT2, SLB, WLB, CB1, CB2
If the Rams can fill 6-7 of those spots (combined) through First-Tier FA and Rounds 1-3 of the draft, they'll be in pretty good shape. The remaining spots will be filled from the Second/Third-tier FA market.
Re: What is a successful off-season as far as Free Agent Signings go....
I wouldn't mind seeing us sign Todd McLure C, Atl Falcons and Dan Connor LB, Car. Panthers. As those are positions of need and we probably can do better filling other spots in the draft. Les Snead probably knows plenty about both players as he worked with McLure and played against Connor 2x each year. Plus Dahl will be playing next to a guy he played next to in Atl. that's important for O-linemen. I will have to admit I know very little about each player. I'm also still hoping for an outside shot at WR Manningham but he may be a budget buster for us.
Go Rams!
Re: What is a successful off-season as far as Free Agent Signings go....
I think with Finnegan and J.Jones --- if we add an legit Offensive Lineman it would round out a successful off-season.
I would like to find a OLB and/or DT in Free Agency as well, but not a big contract.
I think youth and firepower should come in the NFL draft --Round 1, 2, and 3 WR/RB/WR or RB/WR/WR
Re: What is a successful off-season as far as Free Agent Signings go....
I'm most interested in how Fisher puts all the pieces of the puzzle together. The number of free agents we sign doesn't really matter to me. Holes need to be filled either through FA, draft or trades.
Re: What is a successful off-season as far as Free Agent Signings go....
Exactly how its done doesnt bother we just need the holes filed 1 way or another.Just like Fish said in his press conference with Snead both markets need to be looked at to fill our roster holes. And personally id rather draft the skill positions with our 1-3 picks.
