What's all this talk about the combine?
I simply don't get it.
It seems every year around this time football writers and fans start talking about the combine. Now, don't get me wrong, I like combines as much as the next guy. Why, I remember, back in my youth, how I used to sit in my pen after a good slopping, watching the combine drive out in the fields. The way it would cut through wheat fields, leaving the tell-tale marks was mesmerizing.
Oh, how I wished that some day, somehow, I'd be able to sit in the drivers' seat of one of those fabulous machines. Truly, to do so would be akin to being the King of all creation. Upon that metalic behemoth, master of all I survey, the power of technology at my fingertips...
