What's next on their shopping list????????
Well, both Billy & Steve have extended their mighty staff(i.e. Moses parting of the seas) and brought into the fold Brown & Bartell and with any luck, James Butler, so what is next on their shopping list????
What's their next priority?????? How much cap room do we have left??
[B]OR
Do we break it off here and concentrate on the college draft??????
What say you???????????

Re: What's next on their shopping list????????
I'm interested to see how strongly we pursue Butler, bearing in mind William Moore might be available when we pick at 2.2.

Re: What's next on their shopping list????????
We should deffinitly go after Butler...
First, he's still young enough to make an impact. It's not like we are going after a guy who's only going to play another year.
Second, he's proven at the NFL level, something Moore is not.
Finally, probably the most important point, it removes a need that we need to fill in the draft.

Re: What's next on their shopping list????????
I think we should really go for Butler. The guy is still young. We get a player that Spags knows, that knows the system, and fills a major need.
I think that getting Butler will open up things in the draft. Instead of getting a center or safety in round two, we can not pursue a middle line backer, or a new corner back just incase.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Devaney, if you care about this team... fire the offensive coordinator!!!!

Re: What's next on their shopping list????????
Butler is likely still at the top of the list.
Next, I would think there would be a strong effort to reach a long-term deal with Atogwe, which would reduce his cap hit for this year.
Other names I've heard are Leonard Weaver (RB/FB, Seattle), Bill Bajema (TE, San Fran) and Ronald Fields (DT, San Fran), all of whom would be players who would be depth/situational players.
We should also be keeping an eye on the situations with Richie Incognito and Victor Adeyanju. Both were tendered deals that will ensure that the Rams receive compensation (Incognito - 3rd round; Adeyanju - 4th Round) if they are signed and the Rams choose not to match. I have a suspicion that the Rams might be okay with Richie bolting if it means an extra 3rd rounder, though I have no evidence of this.
The Rams also could use depth at the DE spot. I don't think there would be much interest in a veteran like Jason Taylor or Vonnie Holiday, but you never know.
Finally, I would keep an eye on the FA list for MLBs. There isn't much out there, but the Rams really need some depth at that position, so they might take a look there.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: What's next on their shopping list????????
presuming that Butler will sign eventually...
im looking at DT..behind Carriker & Ryan we basically have no-one..Glover isnt likely to play again for us and well..have no idea whats gonna happen with Wroten,so we definately need someone to add to the rotation..maybe a C.J. Mosley...Ron Fields as mentioned may be of interest..at DT i expect them to get one F.A then another one in the Draft, tho where exactly in the draft we would make that pick is anyones guess.. the D-line in F.A do seem to be getting snapped up pretty quickly tho ..i believe Canty,Cole,Hovan and of course Haynesworth (tho he was never an option anyway) have been snapped up..we may be able to actually pick up a decent DT vet when the second wave of cuts come around..have heard Fred Robbins may become available..would love to have him because he`s a very solid pro..plus he has the same sirname as me and the last Robbins i recall us having..Kevin Robbins..didnt exactly set the world alight....
we are quite weak at LB.... Spoon,Pisa and Draft are all good pro`s but still i think we need some upgrade somewhere along the unit...that maybe wont be addressed till the draft tho and im fine with it being taken care of in that way..Last edited by Ramblin` Ram; -03-03-2009 at 12:09 PM.

I think they have to look at O line still, especially at OT.

Re: What's next on their shopping list????????
Am I the only one who doesn't want Butler? He wasn't even a starter last year. I would much rather draft Chung in the secound round.

Re: What's next on their shopping list????????
Ronald Field signed with the Broncos
We could use some offensive depth. I would say players Like Chris Simms. Khalif Barnes, and DJ Hackett

Re: What's next on their shopping list????????
1. Sign Butler
2. Trade Holt
3. Keep Pace (Last resort but restructurer if we have to)
4. Sign backup QB (Next year draft QB)
5A. Any money left and any worth it sign MLB or SLB. (Still Draft Curry for the other position)
Or
5B. Any money left and any worth it sign\trade for DT.
FB would be okay as well if not fill that in the draft.Last edited by RamsSB99; -03-03-2009 at 11:50 PM.

Re: What's next on their shopping list????????
Backup QB should be higher on everybody's list in my opinion. Bulger is fine when healthy, but he has been hurt and missed a few games for the past few years, so somebody who can take over during that time is VITAL. I'm still not sold on Bulger being able to remain healthy for the full season, unless our O-line shows a huge improvement.
If we draft a QB early (2nd-3rd round) he could be the guy we want to stick with if he gets his chance and does well though. That's assuming Bulger is either hurt or not playing well, which hopefully he does get back on track with a new staff and better O-line.
I would still like to see a veteran QB on the roster no matter what. Even somebody like Culpepper or Kitna (both NOT free agents, but just talking about a QB out there like them) who has started for a few teams and can probably come in and start a few games if needed.

Re: What's next on their shopping list????????
I agree wholeheartedly.
In an earlier posted thread "OT Alternatives......" I suggested bringing in Ray Willis OT UFA from Seattle. He's young (26), has starting experience and should be affordable. Also, he looks the part 6-6 315. Also, I like the idea of denying a division rival of their young talent. You can read a bit about it on the aforementioned thread.
As depth or an eventual replacement starter, or plug him in at OG. I think he's someone the Rams should persue.
***Also, with Pace being not long for the Rams and Barron in the last year of his contract and probably not coming back, even if the Rams take an OT early, this move make sense. He's started the last ten games for Seattle at RT and looked very competent.******Last edited by Richbert88; -03-04-2009 at 12:56 AM.

Re: What's next on their shopping list????????
Hey Lostsoul
J. Butler knows Spags system. That wil help speed up the rest of the defence learning the system. If it took the Giants 2 years to really learn the system, the Rams could use all the help they can get.
I'd rather use the 2nd pick on a WR if the Rams lose Holt.(WR K. Britt or WR B. Robiskie)
Do you want C. Chavous back.
