Who did we take at #2 ??

I'm stealing a morsel from AV's recent poll. What if we stay at #2 and DON'T take one of the big 5?

    Let's say:

    1. Houston passes on Clowney and takes a QB (the current rumor in the wind is Johnny Overhyped).

    2. No trade partners for us.

    3. We select a player, but it's not Clowney, Mack, Watkins, Robinson, or Matthews.

    Who did they select?

Personally, I think, in this scenario, the choice is Mike Evans. I could see something happening like we saw two years ago with Quick. The head honchos go have a private workout with a big WR and fall head-over-heels.

    I went with Lewan.

Though I doubt this is the case, I think its at least possible that the Rams could be among the teams who rate him above Robinson and Matthews.

I went with Donald. He, Evans, and Lewan have the greatest chance of being gone at 13. His presence on the line alone would help our back end.

I keep getting this picture in my head where the QB is getting knocked down over and over cause our guys just can't be stopped and growls at his line telling them please keep em off of me! I can see that happening with Donald on the line. So if not the 5 he would be it for me!

I don't understand everyone's distain for Manziel. The guy did produce on the field and against some of the most loaded defenses in college football. Drew Brees isn't your prototype qb either and he seems to be just fine. If I was going to dislike a qb it would be Bridgewater. I watched a lot of games both he and Manziel played and in my opinion Manziel is by far a better qb. I'm not saying I want the Rams to take him but im not going to hate on the guy for no reason. I don't think hes as hyped as Tebow yet people seem to hate him because hes cocky or confident. Manziel in my opinion was more impressive in college than Russell Wilson who I don't really think is a great qb but everyone is on his jock. Manziel can throw and can move around in the pocket creating time and letting guys get open, not sure why that's a bad thing. I like the guy and think he will do just fine in the NFL. That's just my opinion though.

Assuming theyr'e all available, Aaron Donald,

(with Evans a close second, although we have 2 big targets now that we can't get the ball to in Cook and Quick). Plus, I'm always a little leery of WR's that do well with a scrambling QB - you can only cover a guy for so long).

Close call for me between Lewan and Donald. If FisherSnead takes anybody but a "big 5", it's going to be for a player they think will win it for the team in the trenches. I went with Donald

    Who did they select?

We trade down no matter what as long as we get great value.

If we don't get great value then we grab Clowney and if he is gone we grab Mack or Watkins.

I think it is a pretty easy situation here. The #13 pick is where there are all kinds of interesting variables.

Hey, Captain Kirk, you don't get to change the rules. No trade. No big 5. Who's your pick?

Hmm, in this scenario I'm glad Mike Evans is not among the Top 5. ...He's got my vote.

I would want Donald and my top three would then be.
Donald, Lewan, Evans in that order.

Looks like many at Clanram have boarded the Aaron Donald hype-train.

I'm not sold on Donald. I think he'll be a big liability against the run, and will consistently have trouble splitting double teams in the NFL, whether it be against the run or pass. His highlights are impressive, but his overall game tape just wasn't as flattering to me as it obviously was for others.

Not the value I'd be looking for any earlier than the late 1st/early 2nd.

I went Lewan. I've always thought Lewan was right up there with Matthews in the LT rankings, with Matthews holding the slight edge. Nothing has changed my mind about Lewan. I believe he will be a legit tackle on Sundays.
