who is gonna be linehan`s "smokescreen" pick this year?

`06 Jay Cutler
`07 Ted Ginn Jnr
`08 ?

im divided between McFadden & Matt Ryan....just reckon that a few teams below us in the draft order are secretly gushing over them more than they are obviously gonna let on at this point,perhaps Ryan wanted by the falcons and McFadden for the Jets,Texans etc...
i think its pretty much a given that linehan & co will a couple of weeks before the draft start talking up some player they have no intention of picking, so who do you think it will be ?

good choice but I think everyone in the world knows that we need DE help and with a potential stud staring at us with the 2nd pick,no smoke screen this year.

Linehan has to hit a home run in this draft after the debacle of 2006 but decent draft of 2007. His backside as an HC is on the line, so he better play it smart....whatever he does.

I'd have to say Mcfadden. He's the most believable as the 'game-changing' stud offensive player in this draft.

I'd probably agree with jk. With Bulger and Jackson, I don't know that anyone would believe we went with one of the "trade-upable" players like Ryan or McF.

Jake Long... the class is deep and we(hopefully) don't need a day one starter like we do in many positions on the defense.

With Jeff Wilkins being questionable for 2008. I feel like Linehan's smokescreen will be the top Kicker in the draft!:):)

I agree. He is slowly working his way into the top 5 and he plays nose tackle, which we could get better at. If Chris Long is off the board then teams would have to believe that we are interested in him.

but would anyone trade to move up to second for sedrick ellis..when Dorsey may still be available?

im doubting it....it was easier for linehan to use a lil smoke when picking at 11 etc.... i think theres only 3 players we could use as smoke for the 2nd overall...Dorsey,Ryan and McFadden,with a possible outside bet as Jake Long for those that are desperate for OT upgrade!
altho Chris long would be wanted by everyone in the NFL,if he`s there when we pick,everyone knows we aint trading him (or the oppurtunity to get him) away!

I dunno Drew, I'd trade the rights to Chris Long away. Give me Bob Sanders, Tony Ugoh, Robert Mathis, Next years 1st, this years 2nd, and Freddie Keiaho and you can have Chris Long. ;-)

oh i dont know about that lil bobby is a lil undersized....:)

I dont thin you need a smokescreen at number 2 overall. The advantage is Atlanta could go QB or RB with their pick. So if there is a team that wants to jump in front of them to grab Mcfadden or Ryan that's where our pick is an advantage. We don't need a smokescreen we just need a team below the Falcons to covet one of those guys enough to pull the trigger.
