Re: THIS IS IT: Who WILL the Rams take in Round 1?
The rams will take Smith, unless detroit takes him, in which case, we will take stafford.

Re: THIS IS IT: Who WILL the Rams take in Round 1?
- We have made improvements to the OL during FA. Yes, we lost Pace, but we grounded the center of the line, and by doing that I still think we have improved it. I think all of our OL players will look better because of it. And I think we can still pick up a serviceable RT in the second round.
- Defense wins championships and we have a new Defensive minded head coach.
Rams choose Aaron Curry...This space for rent...

I changed up general Counsel's idea a bit to how I feel what WILL happen.
The rams will take Smith, unless detroit takes him, in which case, we will take Monroe.

Re: THIS IS IT: Who WILL the Rams take in Round 1?
I think we should & will take Jason Smith. Biggest need right now & has better upside than Monroe. Can find a good LB in 2nd as Laurenitus, Clay Matthews, etc could still be available then.

Actually, I think the Rams could shock the world and take BJ Raji. It wouldn't be out of the ordinary for Spags to throw his 2 cents behind a stud DT.

Eugene Monroe. I think he's the more "pro ready" player of the two. Why not?

Devaney, if you care about this team... fire the offensive coordinator!!!!

Re: THIS IS IT: Who WILL the Rams take in Round 1?
I said Smith even though Curry is probably the best player at his position. Left tackles get #2 money but linebackers usually don't.

Re: THIS IS IT: Who WILL the Rams take in Round 1?
Monroe - he's long been considered one of the top tackles, unlike Smith who seemed to be a riser later in proceedings. The Rams will have the inside track on Eugene from Chris Long.
Monroe is the LT most ready to play come next September.

Re: THIS IS IT: Who WILL the Rams take in Round 1?
As long as he checks out medically, I believe the Rams will select Eugene Monroe, OT, Virginia.
Sorry for the qualifier at the beginning there, but obviously that's a big part of the equation.

Curry, every thing else is a smokescreen.

I think we go Jason Smith or Curry.
I think we'll have chances every year to get tackles the quality of
Monroe.

Re: THIS IS IT: Who WILL the Rams take in Round 1?
All draft season long we've heard that Smith has the slight edge over Monroe. I have to imagine that is true, however, it doesn't mean that we are not targeting another position.
The more I think, the more I realize we need a right tackle as opposed to a left tackle, and Smith is the better run blocker of the two. He's also much more raw, and so his upside is higher than Monroe's I believe. Stick him on the right side and let him stew, it's not like he hasn't played RT before. If Barron's good on the left side, lock him up and keep Smith at RT. If not, let him slide back to LT.
At this point though, my draft board reads Curry, Monroe and then Smith.

The Rams will choose BJ Raji because They promised to get bigger and everything starts in the middle of the line.

Re: THIS IS IT: Who WILL the Rams take in Round 1?
I'm thinking Jason Smith. He looks to be the safer pick of the two OT's and I think that will factor into the decision.
