I said Too much focus on 40 times and other drills. Some guys have heart, instincts and just have a knack to play football. They might be smaller, slower or what ever else you try to measure. Just look at London, he's too small to play MLB in the NFL right.
Because no one is psychic. These are human beings, not machines. There is no perfect method for measuring human talent. You could ask exactly the same question in any profession. Why do some hires turn out to be "bad Hires" which can occur at the upper management level and also at the lower or middle management level.
Another reason is injuries. Small injuries can make a BIG difference in the nfl and many players who are labeled as "busts" (ie damione lewis) are guys that get hurt after the draft and are never quite right physically.

All of the above.. because so-called "experts" can't be perfect.
Bingo! Madden has given us the impression that talent can be quantified. It simply can't. There are emotional, mental, even spiritual aspects that have to go with the physical concept to determine when and if a player "makes it".Quote:

I think in some cases a players work ethic along with his character/attitude are huge reasons why he may fall in the draft, despite his obvious talent.
But I think the biggest reason is, different teams have different philosophies when it comes to the draft. Some teams draft for specific needs in the early rounds, which ultimately means that more talented players may be left on the board.
Exactly 9erhater. For example, most boards have Calvin Johnson falling to at least the 4th pick whereas he is clearly the most talented/best prospect in the draft.
