Why not do this ASAP -- Asante Samuel
ESPN's Adam Schefter said on SportsCenter Monday that the Eagles' asking price for Asante Samuel "isn't very much at this point."
Schefter also reiterated that the Eagles want this deal done before the draft. The latest reports out of Philly suggest they'd accept a conditional fifth-round pick, and Schefter has said the Eagles probably won't net more than a sixth-rounder. Because Samuel controls his contract, however, he has a large amount of say in where he goes. He'll have to restructure for a deal to happen.
Why not do this ? Is it a cap issue ?
Re: Why not do this ASAP -- Asante Samuel
It is probably a cap issue, I think his hit is high, and we don't have much space as is, and we will need some to sign our drafted players. Still, he'd be a nice upgrade on the other side, with Fletcher playing nickel.
Re: Why not do this ASAP -- Asante Samuel
Give the 6th Rounder and restructure.....Cailborne isn't making it to #6 anyway
Re: Why not do this ASAP -- Asante Samuel
Its all about the money. If Samuel were willing to take a major pay cut, he'd make sense for a lot of teams, including the Rams. The fact that he has not been dealt yet suggests that he has not expressed the willingness to restructure.

Yeah, that must be it. He still has a few good years and can instantly start on 90% of the teams in the NFL. He is 31 years old
2012: $9.9 million, 2013: $11.4 million, 2014: Free Agent
Re: Why not do this ASAP -- Asante Samuel
I dont see it happening, unless he restructures. We just cant afford to commit $20mil/year to our starting CBs. It would be great, but its just not practical even if we could make room.
Re: Why not do this ASAP -- Asante Samuel
Love for it to happen, but its just not reasonable.
Re: Why not do this ASAP -- Asante Samuel
The most overrated player in the NFL, I'll pass.
Re: Why not do this ASAP -- Asante Samuel
He already has said that if traded he WILL restructure.

Way wrong there....Nnamdi Asomugha was way, way overrated and Samuel grinded it out to show his toughness, while Asomugha showed he can't tackle or play physical in big games..

Asomugha is overrated as well. Like you said last year he was terrible. He was not physical what so ever, proved he cannot play zone coverage, and cannot tackle (considering the fact he had the most missed tackles as a CB).
Samuel gambles WAY too much. The reason the Eagles went out and got Asomugha was why? The reason they got DRC? Not because Asante is a solid player... He'll get his fair share of INT's a year (6), and he'll allow a nice amount of TD's (2010-he allowed A TON of TD's, last year, I'm sure it was a lot again).
Re: Why not do this ASAP -- Asante Samuel
I think we should all be able to agree that the MOST overrated player in the league is Tim Tebow.
As for Samuel - I'd like him at about $2-$3M per year. Otherwise, too pricey.

I can't not root for Teabow, and think Sanchez is a lame duck -- but I know Teabow isn't that gooodd..
Re: Why not do this ASAP -- Asante Samuel
I would rather use our #6 on the best punter we can find than use it for samuel, even if he agreed to cut his money in half. About the best i can say for him at this point of his career is that he is more effective than justin king, which is the world's tallest midget analysis. An average at best 30 year old corner making big money? No thanks.
