Thread: Wide Receivers

Wide Receivers
Currently, our receivers on the roster are:
Donnie Avery
Keenan Burton
Derek Stanley
Laurent Robinson
Practice Squad/Camp Bodies:
Nate Jones
Travis Brown
Chad Lucas
Grant Horace
So, I'm confident to say that we should be drafting a receiver somewhere in the draft.
Who is your choice?
Edit: Please state the round you wish the Rams to grab the player.Last edited by RockinRam; -04-15-2009 at 09:56 PM.

Re: Wide Receivers
Ramses Barden in the third. He will give us the size that Drew Bennett was supposed to give us in the red zone. At this point we have bigger holes to fill in the first two rounds like LB, OT, and DT.

Re: Wide Receivers
I went with Britt if he slips to the second. If he doesn't, Barden for me in the third or fourth.

Re: Wide Receivers
You should really ask what round but i really want DHB to fall to us at 35 but i dont think he will. So i voted for Hakeem Nicks who is already a polished route runner and remember the last WR we drafted from UNC?

Re: Wide Receivers
Definitely Ramses Barden. We need a big guy like him for help in the red zone which is where we weren't good at last year. Donnie Avery and Keenan Burton already provide us with plenty of speed, so we need to get a big physical guy now that can get up over cornerbacks to make the catch.

Re: Wide Receivers
All the same after seeing the video of SAmmie Slaughter or whatever his name is. I'd love that guy for a returner and slot WR. I think guys are too interested in tall WR's the Rams have always been fine with small guys and I have no problem continuing that trend. YOu don't need to be tall to catch a ball. Plus I'm still pretty jaded after the Bennett waste of time.

Re: Wide Receivers
Round 2 - Kenny Britt or Hakeem Nicks
Round 3/4 - Jarett Dillard or Ramses Barden
After that - Sammie Straughter

Having now watched videos on these guys I change my vote from Haward-bey to Nicks... Nicks is sick

I like Rames Barden trade up in the late 3rd or 4th

4th round. risky pick. but wouldn't be here in the 4th if he wasn'trecuperating from surgery. Rams had him in for a look. Wish I knew their opinion after that look and a medical exam.

I choose DHB with Brian Robiskie a close second.

Re: Wide Receivers
Look, by now everyone knows I am a huge Britt promoter but truth of the matter is I don't know how any of you guys would want Darrius Heyward-Bey with our roster.
Avery is the same type of player as Bey and I don't think that a lot of people realize that Burton is very similiar.
BURTON IS A BURNER -- NOT SOME LONG, OVER THE MIDDLE POSS. RECV.
You need to compliement these 2 (Stanley is burner as well) with a over the middle / route running reciever.
That should leave us with a few options.
If we go WR in the 2nd round its a matter of who is there.
Britt, Robiske seem like the best fits.
I personal don't like Nicks but he even fits better than Bey.
Lots of teams have big CB's and you need a guy that will block like Hines Ward does to make our run scheme successful. Both Britt and Robiske are big enough to do this. This is where I think Nicks lacks.
I think we stay away from Harvin(character issues) and Bey (just doesn't fit).
Louis Murphy and Ogletree maybe available in the 3rd.
If not Britt or Robiskee than LB.
I think Nicks isn't the guy, but take him if you want.
But HOW any of you can want Bey I really don't understand it.
We will end up using Bey like Dante Hall, and be lacking a real WR all year.
He will fit somewhere just fine, just not here.
