Working on the AR Draft Board System - Please Help
I'm going to use my draft board system again, as it has worked fairly well for me in the last two years. The way it works is that each player is assigned two scores on a scale of 1-5 (half points permitted) for the following:
Level of Need (as a First Round Choice):
5 - Immediate Need: Draft choice likely to be a starter as rookie.
4 - Future Need: Draft choice will likely be starter w/in 3 years.
3 - Depth Postion: Draft choice will provide depth at key position/may platoon with starter.
2 - Luxury Position: Not a need position. Selection would be pure luxury.
1 - Not Needed: No basis to select this position in first round.
Player Rating:
5 - Blue Chip Player: Regarded as "can't miss" prospect.
4 - Clear First Rounder: Confident that player will succeed.
3 - Marginal First Rounder: Needs to be in right system; possible second rounder.
2 - First Round Reach: Flaw in game should keep out of first round.
1 - Not a First Rounder: Should not be selected in first round.
I need help with the first rating (I'll work on Player Ratings later).
Here's how I see it for each position:
QB: 2.0
RB: 1.0
FB: 1.0
WR: 1.5
OT: 5.0
OG: 4.5
C: 4.5
TE: 3.5
DE: 3.5 (Assuming Little is back next year)
DT: 3.0
OLB: 5.0
MLB: 5.0
CB: 3.5
SS: 3.0
FS: 3.0
Anyone agree, disagree?

Agree.
Only minor changes, FB = 2, WR = 1, irrelevant change.
Biggest needs OL, LB. Next lower needs DE, FS.
Lets hope the Rams agree with us and Martz doesn’t draft a RB or WR #1. Marmie is going to need to make his requirements heard. Champion the cause! This draft should tell us how much influence Marmie has with Martz and the team.
This “drafting the best player available” approach needs to be limited. We need to put greater emphasis on drafting for our needs.

Here's an observation I find interesting, you guys decide for yourselves. Per AR's ratings...
Quote:
DE: 3.5 (Assuming Little is back next year)
DT: 3.0
OLB: 5.0
MLB: 5.0
CB: 3.5
SS: 3.0
FS: 3.0
Our most certain positions are occupied by brand-new players in transition (FS - Arch, SS - Pisa) and three 1st round "busts" (D-Lew, Pickett, Kennedy). These are the positions that AR (and I happen to agree) feel need the least attention.
