Which would cost more??
Apparently Torry Holt has a cap hit a shade over 10 mil this year. I don't see the Rams paying Torry that kind of money .. no way. Torry has not so coyly indicated he might wish to play elsewhere .. so the question:
(first a disclaimer -- this is not a thread asking if we should draft Michael Crabtree -- its about who would be the best bargain from purely a financial standpoint)
If we dumped Torry, and took Crabtree at #2 overall, would we lower our cap number, or increase it? C'mon all you capologists out there .. enlighten me.

Crabtree would get a little more than Holt
in 2007 Calvin Johnson #2 pick by the lions signed a 6yr 64mil deal. That is 10.6 mil per year. So expect Crabtree to get a little higher than that because it seems like rookie salaries go up each year.

Well, I thnik Jeremy Maclin's salary would be just a little above what Calvin Johnson received.
I watched Crabtree alot, but I think Maclin will be just as good as Crabtree at WR and he can also return punts. A threat we haven't had in quite awhile.

Re: Which would cost more??
I didn't say anything about trading down. I don't think we should trade down the #2 pick at all. I don't think this year there is any chance whatsoever that anyone trades with the Rams with the 2nd pick in the first round. The Rams talent pool is as shallow as it's ever been. I think it's more realistic teams look to the Rams 2nd Round pick for a trade.
And I do think Maclin is worthy of the 2nd pick with this team.

Re: Which would cost more??
Maclin will, that's a specialty of his. It wasn't a specialty of Avery. Look at Ted Ginn for Miami. He was a return specialist and WR at Ohio 'State and had a good rookie year both as a WR and KR.

Re: Which would cost more??
Crabtree is a bum -- he already stated he isn't going to run the 40 at the combine because he will get embarassed by Macklin, Britt, Bey, and Harvin
Cut Holt and go with Britt round 2

Re: Which would cost more??
Avery is a Legit #2 Burton is a Legit Speed Burner with Stanley as well we should have special teams covered
we need a big time #1 reciever that can catch over the middle
SEE Kenny Britt
Crabtree is soft and isn't a true competitor
I can't believe he doesn't want to run the 40 at the combine
what a girlie move I bet his bench and veritcal jump come in weak too
Finally Feb. is here and the combine is 3 weeks away

Ya but that was under a totally different staff, who's to say spags won't put avery back there as a return guy, nobody knows yet. You can't keep looking behind us to say what we are going to do in the future. Obviously nothing worked that Linehan or Haslett or Al Saunders or Whoever or special teams coach was. We are going to be a totally different team and I can't wait.
