i kinda think blackmon will be ours now... Trich just left cleveland today.. so IM happy = )
Blackmon dropped only one ball and 4 the next year? Where do I sign him at? Already a upgrade to our WR core..!
Let me put this argument to bed. There has been 2 players that everyone is comparing to Blackmon. Its either 1. Terrell Owens, one of the best to ever do it, a first ballot HOFer or 2. Anquan Boldin. One of the games most dominant possession WR's for many years now.
T.O Career Stats: 1,078 receptions, 15,934 yards, 153 touchdowns.
Boldin Career Stats: 707 receptions, 9,244 yards, 54 touchdowns.
Both of those stat lines would be BY FAR the #1 WR on the St. Louis Rams. EASILY. And he's been said to be either of these guys.... I'll happily take those stats for a WR that we dont have.
Larry Fitzgerald comes to mind as well. He ran over 4.6 in the forty and everyone questioned his athleticism (not nearly as much as Blackmon though).
The other thing about Boldin is that he was dominant before his knee injuries started. If Blackmon is pre-injury Boldin he is absolutely worth the pick.
I see a lot of comparisons to Hakeem Nicks as well, which not only do I like, but also fits your point as well.
Anyways, back to the original psot, as I see it, Blackmon is not only one of this draft's top ten prospects, but IMO he's one of this draft's top five prospects. I do not believe the Rams would be reaching for him with the sixth pick, and I'm amused at the notion that he could slip to the twenties allowing the Rams to trade up for him then. I frankly do not see that happening.
Somehow I just knew you guys would enjoy this read as much as I did, had to share it... Jerry from Sacramento lol... I thought when I got home AV would have created a new user Jerry from Sacramento....Quote:
Jerry from Sacramento reached out this week to take issue with Justin Blackmon as a projected first-round draft choice for his favorite team, the St. Louis Rams.
I was doing some deep thinking last night, and I realized that yes, the Rams WOULD be reaching for Blackmon. First they would have to reach out and write his name on the draft card, then reach to hand the card the commissioner, and finally they would have to reach and shake Blackmon's hand on stage. That's a whole lot of reaching, maybe we should avoid the draft.
So Blackmon is in the mold of Hakeem Nicks, with the traits of Terrel Owens and Anquan Boldin.....Tell us again Jerry, why is he not good enough?
I am going to be the saddest man on earth on draft day if we dont get Blackmon :disapointed:
This is a side note, but I read about a year ago that the NFL players association has a hotline set up for any player anytime to get a taxi ride paid for by the association. Least thats what I remember reading. Not sure if it's true, but I wouldnt be surprised. Some players I would imagine are too stupid or hard headed to just make the call. For the record Blackmon at 6 plz
