Would you be happy with Stephen Paea at 14?

Would you be happy with Stephen Paea at 14 if Julio Jones isnt there?
I feel that Paea is one of those players that would make the whole D-Line better like Robbins did for us last year. He's constantly collapsing the pocket and has proved that his weightroom strength can transition onto the field. I think if we dont pick him we'll be missing out on a special player, Especially if he's gonna be coached by Spags.

On a side note i pray we dont draft Liuget. He has weight issues and comes off the field way too much for me to want him in the first.

Can you please site the weight issues on Liuget? When I looked at CBS Sports, he's said to be 6-2, 298 lbs. while Paea is said to be 6-1, 295 lbs. I don't see much of a weight difference there and he's valued at the 2nd round, so you're willing to bet your soul on some guy who has red flag in his injury resumé? I'm not against drafting Paea or anything, just not in the first round or if we get Liuget there.

Struggled with weight issues prior to junior season and it affected his conditioning, leading to limited playing time. Dropped 30 pounds prior to 2010 season and condition improved, although he played much of the season below 300 pounds. He'll need to increase his muscle mass and conditioning for the next level.
    Corey Liuget, DT, Illinois

And from what i've read i Believe Paea has only missed one game with an injury, not entirely sure on that one though.

Small piece of info on his toughness from cbssports

"Proved his toughness in 2008 by playing the final month of the regular season despite a painful bursa sac injury in his knee"

I would be pissed. Right know Paea is valued on many mocks between 35-60ish overall. If we take him at 14, ya id be pissed.

Nothing against Paea as I think as a 2nd rd pick would be a good pick up, but I also wouldnt be opposed to drafing Leonard hankerson for example in the 2nd rd and would be pissed if we took him at #14...

Not gonna lie, I thought you were joking in the Julio Jones thread. Sure I like the kid, in the second round. Of course who knows, he could very well pull a tyson alouhalouh(sp) and surprise some people.

I think that's too high for him. If the Rams traded to 25 or lower, maybe.

Second to pretty much everyone's reaction. Where was Paea before he blew up at the combine's bench press? 2nd round. Where was he after the combine's bench press? Late 1st. Where is he now that people realize that there's more than just crazy lifting? 2nd round.

I like the guy, I really do. And if he's there in the 2nd and he's anywhere close to the top of our board(he definitely should be at that point), absolutely should we grab him. But at 14... no way. That's a very big reach over at least 3 better DT's in my opinion.

14? No way! Maybe if we traded down to the late 20's early 30's I'd be pleased. He might even be around for our 2nd round pick.

Lets also not forget the Vernon Gholston effect, just cause you're an athletic freak who did ridiculously well in college and blew up the combine doesn't guarantee in playing well at the NFL-level, and to top it off with that injury, jus' sayin'. I wouldn't mind picking him at the mid 20s or 30s or if he drops at us in the 2nd round.

Actually he was projected a mid first round pick and then tore the Meniscus in his knee (which isn't a huge injury) at the Senior Bowl and then dropped in projections.

Definately hope he doesn't end up like Gholston. The Jets did f$%^ up by playing him out of position though.

Gholston was a bad player. It doesnt matter what position they played him at, he had no heart or motor. He was a great big bust.

As for Paea at 14... way too high. Lower 20's maybe thru the first half of the 2nd round is where I expect him to be taken.

I think he had a history of some knee problems (sprains maybe, I don't remember) even before he tore his meniscus. I like him but wouldn't be happy if we took him at 14.

I'd be pretty bummed to be honest.
