Would you make this trade?

I saw this on a 7 round mock draft and found it interesting. This would solve our TE problem and we would move up in the second round and pick up an extra 3rd rounder this year. Then next year we would get Green Bays 1st round pick. I think I would do this deal in a heartbeat. It is hypothetical so please base your judgment on if it was ever offered and not that it will never be offered.

- St. Louis trades Rd.1 pick (11) and Rd.2 pick (14) to Green Bay for Rd.2 pick (4), Rd.3 pick (3), 2007 Rd.1 pick, and Bubba Franks.

Green Bay 1st Round picks after the trade.
5) Green Bay Packers – DE – Mario Williams – NC State
11) Green Bay Packers (f/ St. Louis Rams) – RB – DeAngelo Williams – Memphis

I'm not sure Green Bay would do it. They're essentially giving up Franks, a third rounder, and a first rounder next year to gain our 11th overall pick for a running back.

Why do that when they could get a decent RB in the third round, sign a FA running back out of an excellent free agent group, or draft someone like Adrian Peterson next year if they have another poor season?

I don't think there's any way the Packers make this offer, but if they did, I'd probably take it. I would love to have a high first round defensive talent from this year's group, but next year you've got guys like Paul Posluszny, Ahmad Brooks, LaRon Landry, Patrick Willis, Michael Griffin, etc etc.

Linehan could have Franks, a veteran tight end who is a very good red zone target, have his share of mid to late first day picks in one of the deepest drafts in recent memory, and then have the extra pick to work with in 2007. This would be very good for the Rams, pretty questionable for the Packers.

Bubba Franks has some injury questions over his head I would rather give the D some improvment in this years first 1-2-3 rounds than ge franks.

It is a pretty plausable trade though unlike some others I have seen on those mock drafts

Bubba Franks health is the big question. If he's 100%, I would do it. I know we need help on the d side of the ball, However I'm not sure it's a talent question maybe more of a defensive coordinator issue. Haslett could be the talent we've been waiting for.

I agree laram, although I do think some positions could use upgrading.

One thing that I would like to see us is made some more draft trades, stocking up on picks always seems like a good idea.

no way... too many holes to fill on our defense. bubba franks, no thank you. we can pick up a good tight end in the 3rd or 4th rd.

If it were for a young tight end like Antonio Gates or Jason Witten then i say do the trade in a heartbeat.

No. We have way too many needs to address, and trading away our picks is a recipe for disaster.

Deep draft = lots of quality players available. Even if we don't get any defensive stars out of this draft, we need depth too.

I think it would depend to some extent on who is still on the board when the trade is offered. Franks is good but not a great value. To me this would boil down to a bet on how good Green Bay is going to be next year. If Favre isn't coming back, this trade starts looking sweeter.
