    Would you sign Jonathan Martin

Tony Dungy after his interview with Martin said that: Martin would succeed in the right type of locker room. Also, that the Dolphins were not a good fit for him. He also thinks that he can be successful on-field. So do you think the Rams could be that somebody for Martin. Say, Jeff Fisher talks to him and figures out if he can fit him in. And if say if all that goes well, is it worth it to give him a shot? Given his potential and our need for O-Line.

edit: the poll Q should say: Would you, not should you**

Heck no. The mans huge and is portraying himself the victim. His own text messages are contradictory of his story. There is smoke concerning this in Miami, but his handling of the issue was bizarre. I wouldn't be able to trust him if I were front office. Didn't Martin loose his job prior to this all becoming an issue? I would rather have Incognito to be honest, you know what he is. Mean and nasty are what the NFCW demands, Martin may just be too soft.

If he was an established top-end OT, I might roll the dice. My impression, though, is that his play was generally viewed as inconsistent, at best.

    So... no.

    I'd pass.

And I could be mistaken, but I think we would owe compensation to Miami.

I'd rather have Cogs for the reasons Richbert said. Fisher should be able to keep his temper in control while winning a handful of skirmishes in the trenches.

Let me just throw this out there. Cog and Long played together and are good friends. We need a guard. The report on the incidence is coming out soon. We are considering hiring Williams back so Cog should be on our radar.

I agree with Richbert88. It would be awesome to have Cogs. That type of mean and nasty would be really good for us in this division.

considering that martin is a locker room poison for what he did to incognito

with the text messages released, they seemed to be the best of friends, and then that bullying thing blew up and he didn't talk to incognito

don't want him, infact, i'd take incognito

I agree with the Nos. I thought he was average at best, but wanted to see what the forums take on this was. Looks like its a consistent answer. And I wonder if we are really getting COGS back

No to Martin, no to Cogs. Both guys are wild cards with behavioral and/or psychological issues. Not worth the risk IMO.

Re: Would you sign Jonathan Martin

I'm for bringing back Cogs at the right price. Ain't worried about him being a "locker room cancer" or anything like that because Jake will keep him in line.

Remember all this garbage that happened with Johnny Martin happened AFTER Jake Long left the team. Cogs has been humbled by all of the negative press and he will toe the line or answer to Mr. Long.

My only problem with Richie is more of a football issue: I'm just concerned that his pass pro blocking isn't up to snuff. I recall faster and more athletic DTs and DEs running right by him and getting in the face of our QB. That can't happen with Sam because he needs a clean pocket.

I hope that Cogs has been able to progress as a pass blocker over the years.

All I know is that an OL of Long-Incognito-Barrett Jones-Saffold-Jake Matthews would be pretty darn nasty

The impression Martin brings is that akin to Jason Smith. Great talent... limited fire/motivation/focus/intensity (pick your adjective).

It all comes to one thing... Rams, especially under Fisher, is not a team that backs down. Having Martin in the fold is a regression, not a solution.

The Jason Smith saga was a failure. So would the Martin saga. = PASS
