Re: wow...dorsey can play
ahh, but bruce, you know as well as the rest of us (well MOST of the rest of us) that the college star does not always fare too well in the NFL game where EVERYONE is big and fast and not just the occasional player on the opponent's team.
Sometimes (usually?) they can make the transition but not always.RnD

Re: wow...dorsey can play
I actually thought he had just an okay game. He made some nice plays, plays where he was noticably dominant, but I also saw him get pushed around in pass protection.
He did have that one sack, but from what I saw, (I did only watch bits and pieces) he was one on one with and OSU guard for most of the day (was it Duke?). Phil Loadholt did not have a great outing at tackle, and I'd be surprised if he declares.

Re: wow...dorsey can play
I think Dorsey did an amazing job...we just gotta hope that the Phins dont snag him first.

Re: wow...dorsey can play
he seems a good prospect but we have far bigger needs than DT at this point!

Re: wow...dorsey can play
What I'm talking about *Please discount the Loadholt part--OSU and OU---got a little excited* is that in my opinion, Dorsey didn't have that great of a game.
He was man on with a guard from OSU most of the day, and except for the few really exceptional plays he made- the sack, and a couple where he got in the face of the QB, he was getting pushed around a little bit.
It was a solid performance, but he didn't do anything to blow me away for a majority of the game.

Re: wow...dorsey can play
If he is there, we grab him and move carriker back to end. I would rather not pass on a guy like that, i think he is a better player than chris long.
Meanwhile, does laurenitis make the tackle on every play or what. The guy had 18 tackles last night which is amazing.

Re: wow...dorsey can play
Hmmm.. I wasn't confused. Or, I didn't think I was...
I think I was saying that it seems one gets more "bang for their buck" when signing a 2nd or 3rd round pick. I don't know if it is because they want to "prove something to their doubters" or just are good players who didn't get a lot of press because there were "stars" on the team.
Of course the NFL gets their players (and their stars) from the college ranks and I didn't say most stars don't make it in the NFLI was saying a star in college is not guaranteed to be a star in the NFL.the college star does not always fare too well
IMHO most #1 or #2 overall picks are simply not worth what they get paid. I would grab the $$ if I was in the position, no doubt, but I think it is insane to pay these unproven "talents" the crazy money the command (demand?). Yes, that is the way it is but that doesn't make it right. IMHO, remember....:xLast edited by ramsanddodgers; -01-09-2008 at 01:03 AM.

Re: wow...dorsey can play
From what I've read, Dorsey is good / very good -- that's it. If Dolphins beat us to C. Long, Glenn Dorsey is certainly a good 1st pick for us but by comparison, I think Carriker had a higher value last year than Dorsey does at this point.
