ST. LOUIS (Ticker) -- St. Louis Rams defensive tackle Claude Wroten was suspended for the season without pay by the NFL on Wednesday for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

The 24-year-old will be eligible for reinstatement no sooner than May 30, 2009.

It is the second career suspension for the product of Louisiana State, who also was banned for the first four games of the 2007 season for violating the substance abuse policy.

A third-round pick in 2006, Wroten has recorded 24 tackles and 1.5 sacks in 26 games over his first two seasons with the Rams.

This guy has got to understand he is on his 3rd strike. I think we should keep him around.

Also, if he keeps off the weed or out of trouble, he''ll hopefully be playing with much intensity because he should have a contract year coming soon. And if he does stay clean he'll come cheap....He really has no other choice.....I kind of think the Rams might have him by the balls a little. He may work out great in the rotation if someone goes down with a injury.

He has 1.5 career sacks he isn't the second coming of Warren Sapp. He is a just another bad seed and bad pick from the Linehan regime we need to cut ties with him immediately. After getting pumped up by Jason Brown's press conference I think there is no room in the Rams locker room for players like Wroten. Third strikes are for baseball... I wish him the best but I want him out.

I say let him go..he may have some potential to show, but this is practically the same thing that happened with Bennett, except he was "injured"..Wroten, on the other hand, already had the chance and screwed up twice...Let em go

I say keep him to many holes in D-Line as is. Let him play for a year if he does good ,shop him for a pick. Worth nothing now except a few cap $ & not much of that.
