Re: You be the GM: How would you fill the needs?
I would love for the Rams to pursue a big name free agent such as a Julius Peppers or Vincent Jackson, but more likely than not, they probably won't have the cash to do so.
QB - Colt McCoy Round 2
#2 RB - Dexter McCluster Round 3
WR - Brandon Gibson - Current Roster
RT - Jeremy Trueblood - Mid Level FA
DT - Ndamukong Suh Round 1
DE - Darryl Tapp - Mid Level FA
OLB - Thomas Davis - Premium FA
CB - Syd' Quan Thompson Round 4Last edited by eric2810; -01-07-2010 at 02:42 AM.

Re: You be the GM: How would you fill the needs?
Quarterback can be taken in the draft. Dan LeFevour second round would be awesome.
Back-up running back should be Chris Ogbonnaya. I know he only had 11 rushes and one reception, but he's already looking like somebody that just belongs in the NFL.
Wide Receiver may not be much of a position of need. Maybe take somebody like Danario Alexander or Mardy Gilyard in the middle rounds. Remember that Laurent Robinson won't be hurt, and he's a type of player that can be a real number 1 receiver.
Right Tackle can also be taken in the draft. The dream line is:
LT - Jason Smith
LG - Jacob Bell
C - Jason Brown (we have too many J. Generic Names on our line)
RG - Setterstrom
RT - Find a FA
Defensive Tackle is NDAMUKONG SUH wearing the horns.
Defensive End is not a position of need. As long as we resign Hall, we'll be okay with him and Long. Of course, if Little decides to come back this will be even better, even if he's just a third-down pass-rush specialist.
Outside Linebacker can be taken in the draft. I feel like Paris Lenon isn't too bad, he could be a back-up, but Vabora is just awful. We need to take a guy in the draft later rounds to back up a couple of free agents here that can get the job done. Then the picks could come in and play well in a year or two.
Cornerback is not a position of need. Bartell is a good player when not hurt and Bradley Fletcher was coming along nicely. Justin King can improve and Jonathan Wade isn't half-bad.

Re: You be the GM: How would you fill the needs?
The list:
Qb
#2 rb
wr
rt
dt
de
olb
cb
Round 1: Ndamukong Suh (Fills the DT need)
Round 2: Mike Iupati (Fills the OG need) {I am very high on this guy} (Even though OG isn't on the list, I feel like this is one of our weaknesses)
Round 3: Dan LeFevour (Fills the QB need)
Round 4: Kyle Calloway (Fills the RT need)
Sign Thomas Davis [Carolina Panthers] [Premium FA] (Fills the OLB need)
Sign Mark Anderson [Chicago Bears] / Daryll Tapp [Seattle Seahawks] [Mid-level FA] (Fills the DE need)
Sign Domenik Hixon [New York GIants] [Mid-level FA] (Fills the WR need)
Chris Ogby becomes our #2 RB (Fills the #2 RB need)
Bradley Fletcher becomes the starting CB opposite of Bartell. (Fills the CB need)
Well, there is my solution.

Re: You be the GM: How would you fill the needs?
i assume 2010 will be uncapped, which of course means the free agent pool will be pretty shallow. however, some interesting names are still out there. i think a veteran guy on the o-line will be needed with barron and cogs being gone..chad clifton from green bay or eugene amano from the titans would be a big help. pashos is also an option. banta-cain from new england or danny clark from the giants would also help us.
as far as the draft, i see it something like this.
1. suh
2. everson griffen or greg romeus
3. navorro bowman
4. dan lefavour (if he falls that far)
5. da'rel scott
i think the team will actively pursue ways to trade back up in the draft as well, i think we'll end up with another 3rd or 4th anyways, hopefully to take an o-lineman to fill the ranks.
