Well here is our Guy... Leonard Davis just got cut by the cowboys. He can still play ball, just simply was a cap casuality for the Cowboys... The article i got this news from says that Davis ranks in the top 10 Guards in the Pro Football Focus. Take that with a grain of salt,obviously.
I just say that as well and was about to post it. I am all for it IF we can sign him to a reasonable contract. He is getting up there in age, so I don't want to pay him like he is just reaching his prime. If we can agree to an age appropriate contract, then I am all for him. He is exactly the road grading guard that we were looking for. Not a long term solution, but it might be a good stop gap.
Rich Seubert is getting released and might be another name to look at, for the same kind of situation.
Seems like there will be a lot of quality guards available, would be disappointed if Goldberg is starting on week one.
Granted, all the teams that lose a guard will also be in the market for their replacement, so it goes both ways I suppose.
He has also has experience playing tackle before moving to guard ..
Davis turns 33-years-old this fall. He may still be playing well, but how long does that last? I'd rather go with someone younger who may be around in 2-3 years.
We should be able to get an upgrade for Goldberg without spending the big bucks. There is a few names popping up at the moment at guard who may interest the Rams, L.Davis being one.
a cheaper vet who can run block thats what this line needs. We have to many high paid under achievers on this line. We need to get get more bang for our buck.
