Deadwood
Anyone else watch this show? I picked up a sample disc of some HBO programs in Best Buy, watched the pilot for Deadwood, and got hooked. This is a new kind of Western, and definitely succeeds in delivering some great acting and writing. I would recommend it if you enjoy HBO-type dramas. Unfortunately, it looks as if I'm late to the party as the series is coming to an end - I think Season 3 is wrapped up and there aren't plans for a fourth season but rather some two-hour movies to tie up loose ends.

Re: Deadwood
I was hooked on Deadwood too. I didn't always follow what was going on, but always made sure I didn't miss an episode. Definitely different. Most of the characters were based on real life people, including the always provacative Al Swearengen.
I was shocked when I heard it was not going to be renewed because it was always talked about, appeared very popular and won tons of Emmy's. Creative differences apparantly sank it. I will be looking forward to the movies.

Re: Deadwood
I wonder, if Deadwood was on network TV, would it be sponsered by Viagra?
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

Re: Deadwood
It is definately different, but I like it. They like throwing around the F-bombs, so it is not for all members of the family. However, it is worth watching. To bad it won't continue...

Re: Deadwood
Liked the Sopranos - really good show - but LOVE(D) Deadwood. Too bad it's gone.
Visited Deadwood once on a trip to Sturgis. Cool town.

Re: Deadwood
Here in HK, the terrestrial TV is an absolute disgrace for a supposedly 'World class city' so you have to watch DVD's and get illegal Phillipino satellite. We bought the first two seasons of Deadwood on DVD and thought it was great. Sad to hear it's not going to be renewed. It was truly different and very gritty.
Swearengen for Mayor of your local community I say.
Just watched 'Rome' the entire first season, and that was also very good.

Re: Deadwood
Yeah, it's a different kind of show but it has it's share of 'monsters' and the Gladiator-esque fight scene at the end of the first series is fairly horrific. Historically accurate too, although they have taken some liberties with their portrayal of Brutus and his mother.
Titus Pullo and Lucius Vorenus are great chracters.
That 'Oz' thing seems a bit fierce for me
