Re: Do you support capital punishment?

Child molesters come to mind. 15 years is not nearly enough time for someone who molests a child. I would have to say if my kids were ever molested there would definately be a death penalty involved.

My final question is what type of punishment is everyone comefortable with in Capital Crimes? Is firing squad okay? Burning at the Stake? Bringing back the stockade, I could go on and on but just would like to know everyone's opinion on what I published.

Re: Do you support capital punishment?

The capital punishment system is a joke in this day and age. It is not applied fairly across the board and some states have severely different laws on what is eligible for capital punishment and what is not. Capital punishment is an outdated form of punishment that dates back centuries. The modern form, is meant to be an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. It should be quick and decisive, and should resemble the way that the person did his crime. The punishment should come swiftly after the sentencing and should be held in public to deter others from committing the crime. None of these is currently what it is.

Today there is so much red tape involved with capital punishment, that it is almost not worth it to even have a death row. The appeals system can last upwards of 10 years, and that is certainly not swift. The death is done by a needle with humane drugs behind closed doors, therefore removing the deterrence value of it. It costs much more to kill someone than it does to keep them alive in prison for the remainder of their natural lives, and it lays guilt on the person who has to commit the killing on the person.

All that being said, I am for capital punishment. I just think there needs to be several revamps to the system. Alot of revamps to the system....but some people just need to die.

The murderer should die in the same fashion as his/her victim. If he shot his victim, then shoot him. If he strangled his victim then hang him.If he stabbed an raped? etc. Apon conviction. We all need to look to Texas for Capital punishment law and not europe.:mask:

If convicted I think you should get 3 appeals maximum, with one year per appeal. So the maximum time someone would spend on death row would be three years. All offenders to be blindfolded and put on the firing line. Except cop killers. No blindfold and all riflemen should wear the respective uniform of the cop that they killed.

It's a constitutional thing. Call me a stickler for freedom and justice, but I do believe our founding fathers intended just that. Besides, costs are irrevelent based on only three years of trials. Here in California someone on death row has a better chance of dying of natural causes rather than by execution. Just my 2 cents....
