Does anyone remember Bobo Brazil?
Just wanted to see how many pro wrestling fans have been around long enough to remember the late great bobo brazil. I bring this up primarily because Bobo was the all time master of the head butt and after watching the cheap shot from zinande yesterday i immediately thought of bobo, who was one of my favorite wrestlers in the old days. Same genre as Polish Power, Ivan Putski.

Re: Does anyone remember Bobo Brazil?
JK, you are truly one of the coolest guys i know! I am humiliated by my failure to include chief jay with bobo and ivan putski. I got punished big time when i was a kid for putting my younger brother (who is now my boss by the way) into a sleeper hold and nearly choking him to death! I loved the chief, i can still replicate the indian dance he used to get himself psyched up for the counter attack. He was a tag team champion with indian billy whitewolf. Other guys from the era, superstar billy graham, the executioners, ivan koloff (the russian bear), classie freddie blassie, gorilla monsoon, the ever popular haystacks calhoon and of course, the all time champ, bruno sammartino.
We are talking early 70's to early 80's era wise.

Re: Does anyone remember Bobo Brazil?
I LOVED Freddie Blassie!! Who could ever forget the classic line "pencil-necked geeks"? Occasionally, when in a mood, I still use this term. Of course my wife is less than amused and when I tell her that Freddie Blassie used to say it she remains duly unimpressed. Oh well, women. What can I say?

I remember all of these guys that have been mentioned. They were around in a great time for pro wrestling fans. The heroes and villians of that era were remarkable in exciting the crowd.

What about guys like Verne Gagne, Greg Gagne, Mad Dog Vachon, The Crusher, Dick the Bruiser,Harley Race,Jim Brunzell. I go on for a long time about the old wrestlers, but my fingers would be all sore from all the typing.

RAms 134, those are all NWA guys you listed. I think the two key non wwf guys (aside from gagne) have to be Mil Mascaras and of course, the great Dusty Rhodes.

My favorite wrestler in my youth was the "The Mummy". Also used to love watching bull fighting on late night TV.

Re: Does anyone remember Bobo Brazil?
Dont forget the King, jerry lawler, who put andy kaufman in the sleeper hold. Great call on baron von rashke and the iron claw. I think that move was even more lethal than Stan the man Hansons lariot, comporable to the swinging neckbreaker from ken patera.
How about the master of the foreign object, Baron Mickel Sakluna, from the Isle of Malta.
I think the most lethal move of all time was The Big Splash by all 625 pounds of haystacks calhoun, who i once saw go off the second rung of the corner ropes to splash some guy (never the top rope, that would have caused an earthquake).
Andre the Giant (from grenoble in the french alps) was absolutely lethal, hard to believe anyone could have beat him in a real fight.
