Scarface should have definitly made the top 100, and in my opinion the top 5, and get Star Wars the hell out of #1. The Shining wasn't included? Training Day was a great movie but it didn't make the list. I say get Matrix off of the whole list, I couldn't understand it and it was boring.

You can tell it was done in the UK. Train Spotting is way too high on that list. Life of Brian is definitely not one of the 25 best films of all time. And Full Monty beats Silence of the Lambs? Something wrong there.

Where's Ben-hur? If Star Wars comes in first, Indiana Jones belongs somewhere in the top 100, and Braveheart was better than Gladiator. I agree Scarface ought to be in there. You could also make a case for Maltese Falcon, It's a Wonderful Life, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. Personally I might include the Princess Bride, too.

What!?! no Ishtar, no Gigli, no Hot Shots Part Deax ?????

A lot of classics missing from the list. Unbelievable to me that none of the "Lord of the Rings" movies even made the list. Those crazy Brits!:D

I would totally agree with you guys about "scarface".but i should have mentioned the list was compiled about three years ago therefore,excludes films like lord of the rings etc.my missus reccons "officer and a gentleman",should be on the list.Don't know why ?

The list must have been compiled more than three years ago because the first LOTR film was released in 2001.

Eh, I don't know if LotR does belong on there. The movies were pretty good screen adaptations, but they weren't great movies. The effects and music were good, but Jurassic Park had good music and groundbreaking special effects, too, and you don't see it up there. There are not a lot of memorable lines in the scripts that weren't taken straight from the book. For the most part the acting wasn't anything special, and the movies had flow problems--especially the second one. I've been a fan of Tokien's works since I was about 10, but I'm still not sure if I could find a place for the movies in the top 100. I guess I'd have to see some more of the movies at the bottom of this list to see how they stack up.

That list is so horrible that I could literally spend all night picking it apart.

Instead, I'll just focus on the fact that The Matrix appears one spot ahead of Casablanca. Are you kidding me?

Let's compare the most famous lines from each:

The Matrix: "Don't try to hit me, hit me!"

Casablanca: "Where I'm going, you can't follow. What I've got to do, you can't be any part of. Ilsa, I'm no good at being noble, but it doesn't take much to see that the problems of three little people don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world. Someday you'll understand that. Now, now... Here's looking at you kid."

No comparison.

I skipped right to the top, saw Star Wars was number one, and quit reading. While I love Star Wars, no way is it the best movie of all time. No way at all.

The Matrix would likely not even make my top fifty, let alone top fifteen. To put it in front of Casablanca should cost someone their job.

I collected the 100 movies over the last couple of years and i have to say personally i'd drop at least a dozen.and nominate such films as "Glengary Glenross" (I think that was the name of the film ?) there were some outstanding individual performances in that movie.
to have and have not,would be included(because of the history behind it).
Bill murrys performance in lost in translation was great.
and id have to include a host of classics; The maltise falcon,Thebig sleep,North by northwest to mention a few.
There are some good,modern films i'd include;The bourne identity,Kill bill,Road to pradition(And proberbly the passion of christ,alough it was a bit hard to watch).
plus i think the list could include a few new comidies (adam sandler makes me laugh-out loud).

Old School, and Talladega nights have to be my two favorite movies of all time.

Um, fair enough, but neither belong in the top 100.

I think each deserve the top 100. Me Myself and Irene would be far down the list though.
