Re: Favorite Football Movies

The Longest Yard and North Dallas Forty.

Ferter, any particular reason you dont consider north dallas forty on your top list. have you seen it in a while. there are some hysterical scenes, in addition to providing some real life insight into the cold hard business realities of the game.

The Longest Yard is up there on my all time favorite sports movies, with Pride of the Yankees and Slap Shot.

Honorable mention to Heaven Can Wait, which isnt a particularly great movie, but since the rams win the super bowl at the end, its still worth noting.

Not really GC.

I just wanted to list a few, in no particular order of preference, while giving others a chance to name some favs. Really, I like all sports and football movies...imagine that!!

As GC said, gotta mention Heaven Can Wait.

My "guilty pleasure" football movie is Varsity Blues. Can't say it was a great movie or anything, but every time its on TV, somehow I end up watching it.

Re: Favorite Football Movies

Remember the Titans and Rudy are great. Also Brians Song, but it's not about football as much as it's about Brian Piccolo. What about Wildcats. LOL

As for other sports. Anyone seen Miracle? I thought it was a great movie.

Re: Favorite Football Movies

I'm not sure if it was mentioned but The Program is a good college football movie.

I think this being a RAMS board, Heaven Can Wait is a given.

Another that wasn't a major motion picture was the Junction Boys on ESPN, that really showed a side to Bear Bryant that I had never known about.

Re: Favorite Football Movies

Great thread. My fave is North Dallas Forty.

Others on my list in no particular order:

Rudy
Radio
All The Right Moves....Love the scene when Tom Cruise tells his coach that he isn't god, just a high school coach. Reminds me of my HS days.
Waterboy
Wildcats
Longest Yard.....You guys know that they are re-making this with Adam Sandler?

Not mentioned yet are "The Best Of Times" with Kurt Russell and Robin Williams, "Quarterback Princess" with Helen Hunt and "Little Giants".

I have looked for "Heaven Can Wait" a few times and have not been able to find a copy of it. I'll have to keep looking for that movie.
