I heard on the radio today that Warner Brothers has finalized a deal to release the film Justice League of America in the summer of 2009. Plans right now include to have Batman and Robin, Green Lateran, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Flash all on one screen. This has made my day. Anyone else stoked about this news??

I can see it now. The Hall of Justice with everyones favorite heros...gotta love it!

One of my favorite cartoons as a child. I remember very well suffering through the Smurfs in anticipation of the Super Friends.

Should be a must see when it comes out.

So I wonder, does this mean Christian Bale and Brandon Routh will be involved as Batman and Superman respectively? If so it'll be interesting to see how they explain Robin in Justice League despite him not appearing in the solo Batman movies (or at least I haven't heard anything about Robin being in The Dark Knight).

EDIT: Nevermind, I'm reading reports that it's not going to be live-action but rather CGI/motion capture like The Polar Express or the upcoming Beowulf movie. And neither Bale nor Routh are reported to be on board.

It also makes me wonder why they would do a movie like this when there is so much more that can be tapped prior to releasing what I would call the BIG ONE. This would be better to finish tapping the sources then follow up with the Justice League movie..i.e Wonder Woman, Iron Man, The Dark Knight, etc...

Makes me wonder if this one won't be CGI... No leaks yet.

I really hope Christian Bale reprises his role as Batman.

As for Superman, I hope its Routh, but if not, I wonder if they'd consider Tom Welling from Smallville. He may still be/look too young, but I think people would like seing him put on the cape.

I believe Welling is older than Routh. Bale is reprising his role for the next Batman movie but I don't know for anyones after that. It would be nice if he did Batman in Justice League, even if its CGI.

A few days ago at a press event for his new movie 3:10 to Yuma, Bale was asked if he was signed on for the Justice League movie, and he said no. All indications are that he's going to stick with the solo Batman movies and Warner Brothers is going with an all new cast for the CGI/motion capture Justice League.

On a side note, a couple of pictures from The Dark Knight were leaked online last week and they look great. I can't wait to see Heath Ledger's Joker on screen.

Isn't that the method they used in The Polar Express? If so, I have to say (as with the case of low-flow shower heads), "I don't like the sound of that!"

Hmmm, you're right. Welling is 30, while Routh is 28. Welling, I guess, seems younger because he plays a character who's supposed to be about 20 years old on Smallville.

It will also be interesting to see which versions of certain characters they use. Will Green Lantern be Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner, Kyle Rayner or John Stewart (I'm guessing they'll do Steward, who was the GL used in the recent cartoon versions). Will the Flash be Barry Allen or Wally West? Will they use the Martian Manhunter, Green Arrow, or Black Canary?
