Firearms Enthusiasts!
Before I start, this is not a thread to debate gun control. I ask the moderators to delete any posts that attempt to make this thread political.
I was curious about how many of you own/enjoy firearms?
I used to collect Smith & Wesson revolvers, but that was derailed by two incidents in my life: burglary and divorce (the same in some respects). I had two Model 29 .44 Magnums with the 6" barrel. I prefer the 6" barrel for a revolver. I also had a .357 Magnum, .38 Special, .41 Magnum, and a .22.
I have owned many semi-automatic pistols with my favorite being a 9mm Beretta FS.
I have a Mossberg 500 (see picture below) that I keep for home defense. I have it mixed between buckshot and birdshot. The nice thing about a shotgun is that you do not have to worry about the projectiles going through walls and hitting your loved ones.
I'll add more when my computer stops acting up.

Re: Firearms Enthusiasts!
I inherited a Sauer & Sohn model 38H (7.65 mm) from my dad. It was made in 1942, and is the 'full feature' model. Since he served in Europe during WWII (and was one of the Combat Engineers who helped blow up the bridge at Remmagen), I am assuming the pistol was obtained from a German soldier.
I spent hours cleaning and researching this weapon. Sadly, it is not in mint condition, but according to a gunsmith, it is in serviceable shape and is safe to use. The one unique thing is the handgrips - they are the original bakelite, and I have been offered $200 for them.
Right now, the gun is loaded, and being an 8 round semi auto, it is the first line of home defense, especially since it is so easy to use.
Next, I hope to get Mom a .22 rifle and teach her the fine art and hobby of 'plinking'.
Tihs isn't MY pistol, but is a good pic of the same model: (mine is slightly more worn)

Re: Firearms Enthusiasts!
The Marlin Glenfield Model 60 has been a great .22 rifle for me. I even bought one for my oldest daughter when she was 8 years old. You can find the Marlin Glenfields at pawn shops pretty cheap ($30-$70). Unless you find one that is corroded, this is one firearm that is low-risk to buy used.

Re: Firearms Enthusiasts!
The only gun I own was a Ruger 9mm I bought 7-8 years ago. I keep planning on buying more, but the money always ends up gettign spent somewhere else.

Re: Firearms Enthusiasts!
I don't believe in handguns, but I do have a 30 mm. Gatling Gun from an A-10 Warthog mounted on the roof of my car.
On a completely unrelated note, why do people complain about rush hour traffic? Cars just seem to move aside and let me pass, making my commute very easy.

I have seen them - they do exist. I do not know if handguns would meet all five of Thomas Aquinas' proofs, however.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Re: Firearms Enthusiasts!
I have a 9 MM Beretta and a JC Higgins 12 gauge shotgun. I also have a concealed weapons permit.
I bought my wife a Ruger .38 with a 4 inch barrel 2 months ago for her birthday. One of the stiplations when I gave it to her was that couldn't shoot me with it.
She cried. Not because she couldn't shoot me with it. But, because we live next to a national forest. We go hiking, together or by ourselves occassionally and it just gives a little piece of mind just in case.Last edited by viper; -04-21-2007 at 06:56 PM.

Re: Firearms Enthusiasts!
Your wife is a very fortunate woman. What says Happy Birthday better than a handgun?
Seriously, that is a great idea to have a firearm when in the woods. Remember, up where you live, sasquatch is still roaming around. You need a firearm for protection as sasquatch's myspace profile lists revenge as one of his hobbies.
Here in OK, you have do undergo a background check, have 8 hours of training, and pay whatever the fee is these days for a CCP. What are the requirements in WA?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I am a scrawny calf, I look rather woozy.
Nobody suspects I am packing an Uzi.
