Grab a flag, boys and girls...
...my wife became an American citizen today.
Born in South Africa, she became a German citizen 20 years ago, and has been here 18.
The reason I mention this is that she's been around (the world, as have I, but I was born here), and really loves this country.
I was actually against it, because she has a EEC Passport, and with that we would always have the option of ending up in Europe. Pretty remote, but I like having options.
She was adamant, however, and when pressed "Why", answered, "because I AM American, love this land, and have no intention of living anywhere else. Besides, I want to vote."
I was really playing devil's advocate, but at that point, (as all the married guys on this board will attest to), the conversation was pretty well over.
The things we take for granted, huh?

Congrats to both of you. I only wish those born in this country showed as much love for the USA as your lady.
She sounds special, Vegas. You are lucky.Super Bowl Champions 2013!

She is an inspiration to those of us who were born with it. It's a lesson we could learn from.
"Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Congrats to the Frau! My wife too is a foreigner that has earned her U.S. Citizenship. I was surprised the information they have to memorize, and how much our friends (including me) didn't know or couldn't remember.
