Re: Greatest TV Theme Song of All-Time
People let me tell you 'bout my best friend,
He's a warm hearted person who'll love me till the end.
People let me tell you bout my best friend,
He's a one boy cuddly toy, my up, my down, my pride and joy.
Here's the story of a lovely lady,
Who was bringing up three very lovely girls.
All of them had hair of gold, like their mother,
The youngest one in curls
Come and listen to a story about a man named Jed
A poor mountaineer, barely kept his family fed,
Then one day he was shootin at some food,
And up through the ground came a bubblin crude.
Hello, world, here the song that we're singin'
C'mon get happy!
A whole lot of lovin' is what we'll be bringin'
We'll make you happy!
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
Schemeel, schlemazel, hasenfeffer incorporated.
We're gonna do it!
We could go on and on...
and on and on...
Lots of memories... these songs usually bring a chuckle

Re: Greatest TV Theme Song of All-Time
Off that list, I had to go with ATHF. Makes the homies say "ho" and the girlies wanna scream.
Off the top of my head, though, my favorite theme-song would probably be from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
The Fresh Prince of Bel Air deserves mention. There probably isn't a person between 18 and 30 who couldn't recite every word of that song without even having to think about it.
I didn't buy him as a quarterback. He's just so stiff, especially when he drops back to pass. Really stiff. He reminds me of Kurt Warner.

Re: Greatest TV Theme Song of All-Time
HOw could you leave out the theme songs from all in the family, maude, good times, and especially, Movin on Up from the Jeffersons. Dont foget jojos circus and the wiggles as well. On the cartoon front, Gigantor had a great theme song and you failed to give any recognition to either scooby doo or the flintstones which is incomprehensible. Lastly, fairly oddparents has a very catch tune.
Notwithstanding the foregoing, that was a nice job on the list av.

Re: Greatest TV Theme Song of All-Time
How can this conversation go on without discussing the show that made it cool to be a redneck, and gave the name to the greatest innovation in female fashion the world has ever seen?
"Just'a good ol' boys
Never meanin' no harm.
Beats all you never saw
Been in trouble with the law
Since the day they was born
Staightnin' the curves
Flatnin the hills
Someday the mountain might get 'em
But the law never will
Makin' their way
The only way they know how
That's just a little bit more
Than the law will allow.
Makin' their way
The only way they know how
That's just a little bit more
Than the law will allow.
I'm a good ol' boy
You know my momma loves me
But she don't undestand
They keep a showin my hands and not my face on TV""Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Re: Greatest TV Theme Song of All-Time
There are plenty of omissions, no doubt - but I had only so much space and wanted to include some from various generations. Here are a few more worthy candidates:
Happy Days
Theme from Shaft
Theme from Miami Vice
Theme from Hawaii 5-0
Theme from Mission: Impossible
Hong Kong Phoey (#1 Super Guy!)
Theme from Barney Miller
Cleveland Rocks! (from The Drew Carey Show)

Re: Greatest TV Theme Song of All-Time
Meet Cathy, who's lived most everywhere,
From Zanzibar to Barclay Square.
But Patty's only seen the sights
A girl can see from Brooklyn Heights --
What a crazy pair!
But they're cousins,
Identical cousins all the way.
One pair of matching bookends,
Different as night and day.
Where Cathy adores a minuet,
The Ballet Russes, and crepe suzette,
Our Patty loves to rock and roll,
A hot dog makes her lose control --
What a wild duet!
Still, they're cousins,
Identical cousins and you'll find,
They laugh alike, they walk alike,
At times they even talk alike --
You can lose your mind,
When cousins are two of a kind.
So, who was cuter, Patty or Cathy?
