Has Anyone Had Arthroscopic Knee Surgery?

Anyone had it and what kind of pain, problems and hassle am I in for? :down:

I have had it done 5 times, its dead easy in and out in a couple of hours.

First one was the worse but after that it was a dodle

So the surgery took about an hour and then you rested in the hospital for an hour to come out of being under?

5 times??????? What, the first 4 times didn't work

No, actually Dez has 5 knees. It's good for running, but it makes his kilt fit funny.

Do they go in from the back of the knee? I know nothing about this, I've never had any surgery ever.

they go in on the side of the knee ..............

5 times, yea but I played football and rugby ....... it takes a toll

Bruce, don't sweat it. The incision is tiny, not much bigger than a needle. They'll run a little fiber-optic camera in there, look around a little, maybe clean up the problem a bit, and then it's all over.

As surgeries go, you got a pretty minor one. You'll be fine.

What is it their wanting to look at anyway?

How many weeks recovery time? Was there a lot of pain or did the pain killers help numb it?

yea, your on your feet and you will walk out of hospital, only wimps use crutches ........

now when I had my foot opp, I was all over the place on crutches LOL

Thanks, I know it's minor but since I've never had any type of surgery ever, it makes it a little bigger deal to me but I'm sure it won't be a big deal. I'm just trying to go in prepared with all the info I can. They figure it's a torn meniscus or at least needs a clean up.

Heh yeah they said they are giving me crutches, but I would rather hop out than use them. (it's a man thing I guess) LOL

you should not need medication for the pain as its bearable.

I was told I needed it. Something about speed skating, biking, etc. when I was a kid, and cartilage needing work. They also said it would cost money...
Then the Dr. said it would probably work. If it did, my knee would be better. If not, it would be the same.
I asked if my knee would get worse without the surgery. He said probably, but maybe not.

So....have the surgery, it may not work....spend big bucks.

Don't have surgery, knee may not get worse....save big bucks.

The chicken won. It's been 15 years, and I still haven't had the surgery. Of course, when the Orthopedic surgeon's name is Dr. Bonebrake....and I am serious. Look it up in the Springfield, MO Yellow Pages.

Completely understandable, Bruce. It's like the saying goes, the only minor surgery is the suregery the other guy is having.
