Saw V for Vendetta today.
First, let me say that I have not read the graphic novel, so I can't comment on how the movie compares to the original work.
With that caveat, I give the movie
1/2.
Its an engaging film with a combination of action, great performances and a thought-provoking theme. Its going to get a lot of criticism from some in the press over its somewhat sympathetic portrayal of a "terrorist."
I think that criticism is absurd. First, V is more of an anti-hero of sorts, while Natalie Portman's Evey gives the movie its moral compass. Also, V, unlike today's terrorists, does not indiscriminantly target civilians. Rather, he's more of an assassin.
If this is a movie that interests you, I highly recommend it.
