Player of the game: Vince Young
Ron Rivera Post Game press
(Opening Statement)
RR- First of all I have to say that this was a great opening season win for our football team. The past few years we have been trying to rebuild this franchise by getting good young players through draft and free agency while at the same time trying to preserve this franchises great history by winning. We have focused mainly on defense and today it showed. We should down a high octane Offense with our defense. That definetly gets our teams confidence up. Now the questions.
Reporter- I noticed that you didn't utilize your running game much this game. With a star RB in Reggie Bush why didn't you run more?
RR- We got off to a good start running the football in this game, after the 3rd drive of the game for us they started catching on to us running the ball effectively. They then had to adjust there defense from stopping the pass (Rams are known for that) to a defense that will stop the run. THey made that adjustment perfectly shutting down our running game. We then had to let the bull and leadership in Vince Young out of the gates and thats what he did. And he shows by his stats.
Reporter- Rivera I noticed that your TE had a touchdown. What is up with that? The Rams are not known for utilizing the TE. Is this something we'll see more of?
Rivera- Yes in deed it is something you'll see more of. We were lucky and the team that had Vernon Davis previously cut him for cap support which gave us the chance to sign him as a young player to a long term deal. Our scouts watched Vernon Davis highlights from college a few times this week and thought that it would be a good choice to sign him. We brought him in this offseason and he quicky adapted too our offense. He brings that size and speed of a reciever to the TE position that can also block. He will help us in the red zone for the rest of the season so yes you'll see that more.
Reporter- Mr. Rivera your D had 6 sacks this game. That really isn't giving the QB much time to throw the ball as usual. Is the the type of D you want to run this season?
Rivera- Yes sir that is the type of D we want to run. We want our D to be all around good and to have a good Rush D you need to have 4 guys up front that can plug of the middle and stop the run. So we tried to find to interior guys who can do that and did. And then we got 2 good pass rushing DE's who put a rush on the QB and pressure him and oftenly he will make a bad throw and its picked off. So yes this is the D we will run this season to answer your question.
If you guys at CR have anymore questions for Mr. Rivera post them and he will gladly answer them.Last edited by RamsFan16; -02-26-2006 at 12:31 PM.

Re: My Rams Franchise on Madden 2006
Yea. I traded alot of my good players for those picks too and actually I think I did that draft 3 and 4 seasons ago to get all of those big names. Never the less its a good team.

Re: My Rams Franchise on Madden 2006
what happened to Orlando Pace, Torry Holt, Isaac Bruce, Marc Bulger and Adam Archuleta?
I can't play a Rams franchise on Madden if i don't have these guys on the team, it doesn't feel right

Re: My Rams Franchise on Madden 2006
Yea it doesn't feel right to me either but I wanted to rebuild the team and get them younger so I packaged them in trades for rookies and first/second round picks.

Re: My Rams Franchise on Madden 2006
Thing about Madden (I don't have '06), is that it's easy to trade away half decent players for 1st round picks, and if you play in coach mode (Which I find most interesting, more random) there is no way your QB can make his 'hot' reads like the opposition QB does and you get sacked 8-9 times a game. Regardless of his awareness stat.

Re: My Rams Franchise on Madden 2006
My 2009 Rams:
QB: Ken Matthews [1st Round QB, Bulger wanted too much money]
RB: Steven Jackson [NFL MVP last season]
FB: James Hodgins
WR: Kevin Curtis
Shaun McDonald
Woody Jackson [6-2 200lb 4.3 40]
Al Dixon [6-7 220lb 4.3 40 rookie]
Dane Looker
TE: Steve Randle [6-7 250lb red zone stud]
LT: Pace [99 overall]
LG: Rex Tucker [99 overall]
C: Travis Mayberry [Pro Bowler, 92 overall]
RG: Richie Incognito [97 overall]
RT: Alex Barron [99 overall]
LE: Anthony Hargrove
DT: Ryan Pickett
DT: Isaac Bush [drafted 320lb monster]
RE: Leonard Little
LOLB: Robert Thomas [92 overall believe it or not]
MLB: London Fletcher
MLB: Terrance "the Terror" Walker [6-7 250 lbs, faster than Fletcher]
ROLB: Pisa Tinoisamoa [98 overall]
CB1: Ron Bartell [99 overall]
CB2: DeJuan Groce
CB3: Charles Tillman
CB4: Kevin Garrett
(all four cornerbacks made the Pro Bowl)
FS: Sean Taylor [99 overall]
SS: Ed Reed [99 overall]
The defense is absolutely dominant, making up for any mistakes my second-year quarterback makes. Won the Super Bowl on the All-Madden mode against the Colts.
Ken Matthews throws some ill-advised interceptions, but through the training camp mode, I've got his throwing accuracy up to 99, so this should be his breakout year after throwing 24 interceptions last season. Two targets on offense are six foot seven [TE & WR], making for easier deep threat & red zone targets.
Just hired Marshall Faulk as my offensive coordinator this year, with Ron Rivera as the head coach.
