New Album Recommendations
What new albums have you recently purchased (or downloaded, or burned) that you would recommend?
Here are a few I recommend highly:
Garden State Soundtrack
Loved the movie. Love the soundtrack. Great selections from The Shins, Zero 7, Colin Hay, Frou Frou, Bonnie Somerville and Simon & Garfunkle. Its rare to have an album with so many artists and not one throw away song.
Green Day: American Idiot
Okay, so its not that new, and hardly obscure, but if you've only heard the singles, you should give the album a listen. Its kind of a punk rock opera.
Sarah McLachlan: Afterglow Live
Two disc album has a concert DVD and CD. Great selections from new and old materials, plus (on the DVD) a nice cover of the Beatles' "Blackbird."
Sarah Harmer: All of Our Names
I've mentioned her before, and she has become one of my favorite artists. She's a singer/songwriter with a great voice.
What is everyone else listening to?

Re: New Album Recommendations
I have been listening to a lot of old stuff myself. I am in a heavy, loud mood lately. Good Charlotte, Sublime, Shaggy, Eminem, CAKE, The Violent Femmes, and Linkin Park are getting a lot of play time by me.
Newer releases (that are not very new) that I am listening to include:
The Presidents of the United States - Love Everybody - not sure yet, but I love their old stuff.
Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers - Bulletproof Heart - I have seen these guys play live three times last year and I love their stage presence. They are funny and upbeat. The songs on the cd seem a lot more melancholy than they are live. I just stopped by their website and they have another cd released this week. I should go pick that up. Some of the members of the Clarks had some input on the cd.
Good Charlotte - The Chronicles of Life and Death - again love the old stuff, not sure just yet about this cd.
Maroon5 - 1.22.03 Acoustic - I really like this. Good vocals and guitar.
I tried to get into the new cd from Green Day and after a few listens I pulled it. It's just not pulling me in.
The soundtrack from Garden State probably is a good pick up. That movie reminds me of Pulp Fiction. It's just plain weird and jumpy and I think I would need to watch it a few times before I really got it.
I did pick up Sarah Harmer's All of our names last year and it is a good listen.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Re: New Album Recommendations
Good call on the Garden State CD. Been enjoying that for months now. Even inspired me to buy the Shins.
Some albums I've recently purchased/downloaded that I would recommend...
-Sin City soundtrack (if you're into scores and movie music)
-Ben Folds' "Songs for Silverman"
-Family Guy Live in Las Vegas
-Black Eyed Peas' "Elephunk"
-I Am Sam soundtrack
I just bought the new DMB but I'm half and half on it, so I'm not sure I'd recommend it just yet. Maybe a couple tracks, but there's some stuff I just can't get into. Sad.

Re: New Album Recommendations
Gotta love "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away" by Eddie Vedder. That song reminds me when I'm over at my grandmother's (Titans/Cubs fan) house for the holidays.-I Am Sam soundtrack
My recommendations:
"Out of Exile" - Audioslave - Listened to a few of the songs and I love what I hear.
"We're A Happy Family" - Various Artists - Awesome Ramones tribute CD.
"Mezmerize" - System of a Down - If you like their unique sound, you'll like this CD. You'll either love it or hate it.Last edited by ZigZagRam; -05-13-2005 at 05:56 PM.
