I've heard of people keeping Directv just for specific services, like the NFL package. This was a few years ago and I don't know if anything has changed, but it's easy enough to call Directv customer service and ask. At the very worst, they might require keeping their lowest tier package in order to keep the NFL package. I'd be interested to hear what their policy is.

First of all, Playa, I don't know ANYBODY who prefers cable over satellite. At least where I live.

I traded Dierct TV for Dish Network when Direct screwed me overa couple of years ago. I am rural and cannot get cable but my family in town is always complaining about the poor picture quality and poor service.

Cable companies are virtual monopolies in the areas they serve and treat their customers accordingly, it seems.

    Good Luck!

Nope. If you want the NFL Package, there's only one option, Directv.

That's what I thought...I was just desperately wishing it were different.
