Other sporting passions
I posted this in another thread originally and then thought it would be interesting to find out who else the clan shouts for when they are off duty.
My sporting allegiances are headed by the Rams, but I have an affinity for Newcastle Falcons(Rugby), Newcastle United (Soccer), Durham County Cricket Club, Wigan Rugby League Club (My wife's team, Shaun Edwards used to practice in her back garden),Brisbane Lions (AFL), County Kerry (Gaelic footy), Penn State (A good friend), Chicago White Sox (They also play in black and white), Hearts (A scottish soccer team who my grandfathers uncle used to play for), and any team that represent England at anything.
My grandfather was from Kirkcaldy in fife, so I have a soft spot for the scots.(If directly questioned however, I may deny it)
Much to ramsbruce disgust, I don't like basketball, never have, never will. I prefer Curling.

Re: Other sporting passions
Fat Pang, in our never ending quest to have an expert in every sporting area, its great to know that we have a curler in our midst. Just out of curiosity, do you use the curling broom just to play the sport or do you also use it to clean up around the house? I was always curious and no you can put my mind at ease.

Re: Other sporting passions
Domestic usage is strictly prohibited. The broom occupies the same hallowed space as my shoulder pads. Which shall never be otherwise sold or parted with despite my wife's pleas to the contrary.
Comments about ".....pathetically clinging to your misspent youth." have failed to move me on this point.

Re: Other sporting passions
For Soccer, the club I like is Called the Red Stars of Belgrade, I also Like AC Milan, and Juventus.
Basketball, I'm not too big of a fan but I like the Toronto Raptors.
CFL, I like the Toronto Argonauts, NHL, I like The Toronto Maple Leafs.
I really hate baseball, unless it's live, that way it's more fun.

Re: Other sporting passions
I am not an NBA fan. The sport has changed too much over the years. My eight year old son loves basketball, I have helped coach his teams, so that keeps me busy and keeps me somewhat interested in the sport. On the professional level ,though, I am not that interested. However, I have been known to watch parts of playoff games.
Soccer never gained my interest. I have been to games while stationed in Europe, but I just never understood the passion or interest level that fans get out of it.
I used to love hockey. The lockout soured me on it somewhat. I used to love the StL Blues. Lately, with their ownership in "Limbo", and the current fire sale on talent, I have not paid them much attention.
This time of year is such a depressing time for me. After the super bowl, I am just lost. With my waning interest in hockey, I really have nothing to fill the void!!
Baseball is more fun on the AA or AAA level (in attendance only). MLB, well, with apologies to Green Day, "Wake Me Up, When September Ends."
I wish that Arena Football started right after the superbowl. That would give me something to cheer for. Help!! I need something to fill the void.

Re: Other sporting passions
There is at least one other sport than football. What would life be without frequent opportunities to play hide the bear in the cave.

Re: Other sporting passions
I like Basketball, but dont follow it as Much as football or baseball.I do love the Sac.Kings
I'm also a Giants fan.Bonds will break ruth's record this year but retire after.Hank your record is safe for at least another couple of decades.
I think Bonds will get around 740 homers, but he wont catch 755.
I just dont believe his heart is in it enough anymore.
