Random off season thoughts

1. I wonder what it felt like when the Pony Express was the fastest means of communication?

2. Could you imagine having ice delivered to your house like they used to?

3. It was hot last night here in Texas, I wonder how it felt when air conditioning wasn't yet invented but fashion dictated a 3 piece suit?

4. They just discovered a new tribe in the Amazon. Why do I think this is a very bad sign of our planets destruction?

5. I can remember gas wars. We used to drive around Poplar Bluff and watch gas stations change the manual sign from 20 cents to 19 cents A GALLON. Yes younguns, gas used to go down in price.

Re: Random off season thoughts

Okay here we go.....way way back in the mid 60's. (man am I old)

While living in Southern California I can remember my Mother sending me to the corner store to pick up a loaf of bread, 1/2 gallon of milk and a pack of Lucky Strikes (no filter) with 1 as in one dollar in my hand. I would return with all 3 items and change.

I wonder if the racehorse was originally designed by FedEx...

Gives a new meaning to "block party."

How did it feel? Sweaty.

Interestingly, despite their remote location, this tribe was aware of the Patriots cheating.

I remember that too. I also remember reading a couple of years ago that gas would have to be about $9.00/gallon before a hybrid car would actually save you money. I fear my next car might be a hybrid.

Possibly my favorite Three Stooges show. Curly starting at the bottom of those steps with a full block and getting to the top with just a cube;............classic.

Re: Random off season thoughts

I remember having milk delivered, but not ice, and the 'Helms Bakery' truck.

Were they national, or was that just a SoCal thing?

Kinda' surprised a 44 year old remembers 20 cent gas - it must have been cheaper in Texas.

I DO remember 20 cent smokes (I started kinda' young).

Actually quit (finally, after 45 years) 7 weeks ago, and feel noticeably better, physically AND mentally.

(Hate preachy ex-smokers, but) it really IS never too late.
