I spoke with Randy briefly this morning - it was great to tell him Merry Christmas. He sounds a little weaker, but still seems to be plugging away.
Thanks for the update Jack. It's kind of emotional thinking about Randy and his family today, but it's also uplifting to know how much this Christmas meant to him and that he's celebrating it with the people he loves. God Bless him and his family.
Hope everyone had a great Christmas. I did, despite the increasing pain I battle day to day. I didn't expect to be here for Christmas when I was diagnosed last January. Looks like I'm going to make it to the end of the NFL season to see my Rams take the NFC West Division title and go to the playoffs (hope I'm not jinxing that). We play the hated forty whiners today. GO RAMS!
P.S. Thanks to everyone here at ClanRam who have visited my carepage site and here in the forum to stay abreast (he said abreast...he he he) of my condition and send me words of support. I love my brothers and sisters here. After I pass, I promise to haunt the whiners by pulling the ball away from the kicker just like Lucy does to Charlie Brown. Watch for it!:D
Good to see you swing by here, Randy. BTW, what was that deal about since there had to be mistletoe growing over telecommunications equipment somewhere that I had to give you a Christmas kiss?
Good to see you on the board again, Randy. If you could tip a few balls here and there with all of our opponents, that would be great. How long did it take you to come up with a sentence that you could use abreast in? :)
GREAT to see you posting on the board again. We're all pulling for you. I'll be watching to see the ball pulled away. LOL
As others have said, great to see you pop back in Randy! Hope to see you on again when the Rams clinch their playoff spot next week!
Couple of updates by Randy recently:
I do self medicate with some medical herbal remedy occasionally, but alcohol could put me in a pine box (or a jar as I plan to be cremated). This New Years Eve will be our 16th wedding anniversary. We lived together for 7 years before that, for a total of 23 years. Wish we could go somewhere, but we can't due to my health. We'll spend a quiet evening at home, which is okay with us.
It is really storming here in El Paso. Wind gusting around 60
MPH, with rain and hail. Reminds me of when I was in the Navy and
it would storm. I would go on the main deck in my foul weather
gear. The waves would be spashing over the side of the ship and the
wind and rain lashed at your face. The it would hail. Large hail
the size of golf balls. I loved it, absorbing the power of the
storm onto me. I want to go out now, but Becky won't let me. Bah,
humbug.
Happy New Year, Randy!
I received an email from Randy's mom - here is the latest on Randy:
I just hate that he continues to suffer such pain. He is such a great person and not deserving of what he has and is going through. I am not sure what else to say.Quote:
To let everyone know that Randy is not doing well. He has turned jaundiced and Hospice is having a hard time getting a handle on controlling his pain.
