Re: Randy (BigRedMan) Update
I spent the day with my buddy, Randy, and his wonderful wife, Becky. We got to watch together to see the Rams beat the Panthers. Tomorrow, we head out dark and early back to Oklahoma.

Re: Randy (BigRedMan) Update
I rarely wander into this section of the forums, but I'm glad that I did today. It's great to hear that Randy's doing well; let's hope that he soon returns to top form.
Thanks for the updates.

Re: Randy (BigRedMan) Update
Randy started doing some more chemo this week in El Paso. The trips to CTCA were getting to be too much.
We are trying to swing another trip to El Paso over the Thanksgiving holiday to visit again.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Re: Randy (BigRedMan) Update
I appreciate it, but I do not feel I have done proper service to the friendship that I have with Randy.
I have met many great people from this message board. However, I knew that Randy and I would click before we ever met. It is rare in life that you get the opportunity to experience such a thing. Randy is a man with a big heart and has always been so thoughtful of others. As time goes by, I get to hear about more random acts of kindness that he has done. The world needs more people like Randy (except for the kilt-raising part).[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Yeah, the kilt raising thing is a bit much.

Re: Randy (BigRedMan) Update
Update for today:
Got disconected from the chemo yesterday. It's hitting me harder this time. Very weak and tired and battle with nausea. Some light headedness. My cancer markers are at 5300. That's a huge number (when I was first diagnosed they were at 1300. Pain has increased so they have upped my pain meds, which is probably attributing tothe light headedness. Still hanging in there. Got to make to Thanksgiving with everyone coming in for that. Don't want to miss it.
Chemo really getting him this time, but I am pretty sure that was expected. He is bound and determined to make it to Thanksgiving, and if there is anyone who can it would be Randy. Let's hope the chemo nausea will wear off quickly for him.

Re: Randy (BigRedMan) Update
A few updates over the past few days:
I reduced the amount of pain patches on my own. Felt too sluggish and sick. Seems to have worked. I feel better now while the pain is still under control.
Still feeling better since reducing my pain meds. Think I'll go
see a movie today. I hope Lynne and Jack can make it for
Thanksgiving. I know my parents and Bob are looking forward to
meeting them, and I sure could use their smiling faces here. I know
you'll do everything possible to make it here. Anyone else who
would like to come and share Thanksgiving with us is more than
welcome. Becky will make enough food for at least 20 people as
always.
Glad to hear he is recovering from the chemo fairly quickly... and I would normally say I would be surprised at someone taking away some of their pain medications, but as we've already seen, Randy is one tough dude.

Re: Randy (BigRedMan) Update
Update from early this morning. Looks as if the emotional toll is starting to wear on Randy a bit:
Went shopping yesterday. Picked up a space heater at Lowes and then went to the grocery store. I was pushing the shopping cart in Albertson's when pain hit my stomach so I stopped for a moment to let is subside. There in the isle were Christmas decorations. I stared at them. I always loved Christmas. I began to cry thinking of all the holidays I was going to miss, becoming really sad. I began thinking of all the special days I would miss with my family. I couldn't control my sobbing. Becky tried to console me and I eventually stopped. I have these moments occasionally.
It would probably mean the world to him if more of us would leave him a message or two on carepages. If you don't have an account, you can get one here (just hadd the www. to the front):
carepages.com/carepages/bigredman/updates/
100% free to register, you can leave Randy comments, and you will be emailed whenever he posts an update.

Re: Randy (BigRedMan) Update
Keenum, thanks for the link to carepages. I just signed up...it only took 5 seconds. I left a message for Randy. Hey guys, go say hello to our brother in arms, Randy. He's one of us and he needs our support right now. We'd do the same for you. Give him something to smile about!
