Sorry for slow posting
Hey all, just wanted to touch base with all my ClanRam friends and say that I am sorry that I have not posted much recently. I realize that not many have probably noticed my being gone, but I just completed my EMT certification and am still hoping to become a firefighter here in Bowling Green, KY ( the home of Western Kentucky University). My official tryout is September 15th and I hope that 3rd times a charm. I got incredibly close last year and hope that adding my EMT certification will push me over the top. I have been trying to ignore football as much as possible, which means 3 hours a day compared to 13 LOL. Anyhow, I can't wait to see the Rams play this year, and I truly think we will do well. Peace, Brian

Re: Sorry for slow posting
Actually I have noticed that you haven't been around much. Good luck with your pursuit of the Firefighter job.
Back in the late 70's I actually took the firefighter exam and strength test. Passed with flying colors on both but the way they did it Massachusetts back in those days was like this:
Afro-American Veteran + 10 points (automatic on the written)
Veteran + 5 points (automatic on the written)
I am neither.
So anyway I scored a 92 on the written and the strength test was pass or fail.
We were allowed to put our names on the waiting list of three towns/cities in the state.. I was an average of 25th on the list of all three towns including the town I lived in. I didn't have the patience to wait out the Firefighter job so I pursued another career.
Again, Good Luck

Re: Sorry for slow posting
Congrats on the certification, and good luck with the firefighter position. Take care of business first; we'll be here when you get back.

Re: Sorry for slow posting
For anyone interested in my quest:
Good news! I scored an 84% on my written exam today and completed the physical fitness test (CPAT) with over 2 minutes to spare. They should be calling me on Monday to schedule an interview. They are looking to hire between 3 and 5 firefighters, so hopefully I am one of the chosen few.
Thanks to everyone for their well wishes. Knowing I have lots of friends to support me helps a bunch.
