I've actually had this discussion before. One which I came up with, that I think is highly recognizable is:

I think so. Now, Superman vs. Mickey Mouse... that would be a tough one.

I cant post pics anymore,over the limit the thing says.

But the microsoft logo is the only one I can think of. that and the apple logo that could challenge Superman.

Depressing thing is, if you showed someone living in a cave in tibet a starbucks or McDonalds sign they'd be able to place an order.

I was pretty fond of Chupa Chups back in Europe. Every time I see one now, I get this weird feeling and feel like buying one.

Nike's swoosh is definitely up there.

Excellent point on the swoosh. Alas, the marlboro man is a very very well known international symbol.
