Want a job writing about Football?
Pro Football Talk.com might just be the dream job you've been waiting for?WE’LL SOON BE SAYING FAREWELL TO MDS
Posted by Mike Florio on December 19, 2008, 11:45 a.m.
Well, we knew it would happen eventually. And the day finally has come. Our colleague and very good friend Michael David Smith has been blogger-snatched by AOL on a full-time, exclusive basis, and he’ll be ending his relationship with PFT and CFT as of January 1.We’re not upset about it at all. We want to see people whom we respect and like do well, and it’s a step up for him. Though we acknowledge from our perspective that it sucks royally, it’s the right thing for him and we wish him only continued success and prosperity.
The immediate problem it creates for yours truly is that I’m now forced to put out another call for new writers. Because of the sheer number of submissions we’re guaranteed to get, we need to restrict the call to persons who have experience writing about sports under circumstances in which money eventually changed hands.
The departure of MDS creates two holes – we need a staff writer at PFT and someone who’ll take the CFT baton and sprint with it.
If you’re interested, and if you have been paid for writing about sports, send an e-mail indicating in the subject line the position you are interested in.
In the body of the e-mail, give us your name, your current employer(s), your relevant experience, at least one professional reference, and your days and hours of availability to work on either site.
We’ll then contact folks whom we want to submit a sample.
Do not send a sample in your initial submission, please. If you do, we’ll be forced to send one of our representatives to your home, and he will take a dump in your clothes hamper while you are sleeping.

Being paid to talk about sports (or any subject, for that matter) doesn't mean that you are good at it.
As evidence, I offer Emmitt Smith.
