Where Logic Ends, Starbucks Begins
I'll admit it.
I'm a Starbucks junky. Virtually every day, I go to my local Starbucks, or a SoFla equivalent called The Roasted Bean, and get my skim milk mocha.
Mind you, I'm a person who takes pride in living my life in a manner consistent with the principles of logic.
And yet, there I am, every day, shelling out three and one-half dollars (enough to buy a decent lunch, if you know where to get good cheap eats) for what is essentially a cup of coffee.
Now, I suppose I could try to justify it by saying that I can't (at least not without a decent machine) make my own mocha (you need espresso and steamed milk to make a good one), but the truth is, if I really wanted to, I could buy a machine and, in the long run, spend much less on coffee.
Heck, I've even found an acceptable substitute by mixing regular coffee with a bit of hot chocolate (readily available at most gas stations for a dollar and a half).
This can only be described as true addiction. I need my caffeine, and I need it in a big cardboard cup with a fancy coffee house logo on it.
Somebody... help me... please! I can't stop!
Re: Where Logic Ends, Starbucks Begins
Don't look at me AV, I need help too. I get a double, tall skimmed mocha every morning on the way to work. I sometimes really pig out and have a blueberry muffin.
I too have no earthly idea why I do it.
Re: Where Logic Ends, Starbucks Begins
Av, when you mix the coffee with the hot chocolate, do you put in the cayene pepper?
Did you ever try seattles best? We own the international rights to the brand.

Re: Where Logic Ends, Starbucks Begins
No, I've never done the cayenne pepper in coffee/mocha. Maybe I will someday!
I have had Seattle's Best in airports. Pretty good stuff too!
Re: Where Logic Ends, Starbucks Begins
I will get an occasional coffee from Starbucks, but it is almost always a different type each time and I consider it a treat. I am way too cheap to buy coffee at that price on a regular basis. It must be the accountant in me that can't handle that kind of extravagance.
We do have single serve coffee in a bunch of flavors at work and I get the good stuff for home. I am not suffering with nasty tasting coffee by any means.
I have some costa rician coffee in the freezer right now. Yummy.
Re: Where Logic Ends, Starbucks Begins
The last time I went through a Starbucks drive through, my car engine caught fire (no joke). That ended that habit!

I can't bring myself to pay that much for coffee. Besides, Mom is REALLY good at frying my triple-strength pot of coffee every morning.

Was that a second compliment in less than a month? What do you want from me, and how much will it cost?

Anyways...in Seattle, no one drinks Starbucks. Everyone likes Seattles Best (Starbucks burns their coffee). But they all go to their favorite coffee vendor on their favorite street corner. I can't drink coffee though, I absolutely hate it.
Re: Where Logic Ends, Starbucks Begins
I read somewhere that caffene is near the top of the list for addictive substances. Coffee is a big habit for me. I am not sure how much I like it all the time, but I sure do want it.
That is a funny cartoon Avenger. Thanks for posting the link.
