Windows XP....just plain hype or more?
I haven't used XP much, seeing how most business software isn't ready for that yet. However, I've heard both good and bad. I couldn't believe how easy it was for a hacker to bust in on someones machine using XP. They supposedly fixed that bug though.
How do you guys feel about?
Re: Windows XP....just plain hype or more?
I was using Widows 2000 pro on my laptop at work and it ran slow and crashed quite frequnetly. After much resistants our IT department approved the use of XP and my laptop now flies. I've been using XP on my home CP for three years now and have never had a problem.
Re: Windows XP....just plain hype or more?
I have used every Winblows OS since 3.1, except NT. XP is definitely the most stable of the bunch. I have used this OS on an old 550 MHZ machine, and now on a 2 gig machine. The only problem I have ever had was due to a disk drive problem.
20 times more stable than Win2K, 50 times more stable than 98SE.
You won't regret it, but I reccomend the Pro version over the home.
Re: Windows XP....just plain hype or more?
I just bought my own computer a year ago that had XP built-in. No complaints but I learned fast to use the automatic updates from Microsoft. I got online just in time for that worm that was going around. Another poster mentioned the memory. I'll have to add another memory chip to this computer.
