Wisdom teeth
I'm sure some of you guys have gotten yours removed.
I am getting mine yanked on thursday, and of course, I had to ask around. Well I find out, that some of the folks says it doesn't hurt, others say it hurts like hell!
So what do the majority of you think?

Re: Wisdom teeth
never had mine removed but i got mine but causing me no problems at all etc
anyway i had a tooth pulled last year, a molar on the bottom row of teeth. anyway i went in and had an injection (she then proceeded to stick this sharp thing in my gum straight away) i said wow wow wow its not even numb yet, she put 3 more injections in and waited about 2mins, was numb by this time.
anyway, she got this tool out, it looked like a small thin screwdriver which like bent up at the end a little, she started screwing into my gum where the gum and the tooth meet and i thought omg what have i let myself in for. anyway about 15/20 minutes later she'd made enough of a gap so that she could get the grip things inbetween and preceeded to yank at my tooth trying to wobble it out. about 5minutes of that my tooth finally came out, i thought thank god thats over.
i walked out of the dentist feeling a bit horrible withmy face feeling 3times as big. the anasthetic wore off about 11:30pm and i have never felt pain like it in my life, i was in pain big time, i had to take like 8 of the strongest pain killers you can buy over about 8 or 9 hours trying to get to sleep which never happened. it hurt for about 2 or 3 more days and took about a month for the hole to heal
hope my story hasnt put you off mate

Re: Wisdom teeth
I had all 4 of mine pulled. They knocked me out. It did not hurt at all. It took me a while to come out of the place they sent me. I was not able to remember a whole sentence for quite a while. I am sure I was fun to talk to.
I would ask to be knocked out if you can.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Re: Wisdom teeth
doesn't hurt while they are pulling them, just sore for awhile afterwards and hard to eat...I lived off soup for 3-4 days after having mine removed.

I had a lot of frosties from Wendys.....there is some swelling and they put stitches in. I don't remember having pain that was that difficult to deal with.

Re: Wisdom teeth
No pain during procedure. Most of the pain afterward comes from soreness of having mouth open wide for long period and the bruising of the jaw bone. If you take Advil and ice the cheeks and gums after surgery, you will be fine.
But then again, the dentist could tear up your gums, leave a piece of root in to abscess and infect your gums and jaw, and you could swallow and choke on the dislodged blood clot during your sleep and die.
You're on your own.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Re: Wisdom teeth
Be nice Red.
I broke a horizontally impact wisdom. That hurt, like putting a cattle prod under your teeth. Doc gave me an IV Cocktail and locals, pulled all four at once. Aside from the noise of ripping flesh, no prob. Even managed to walk home and eat solid food in about four hours. He did miss a piece of root though. And it has cause problems more painfull than the removal. The ensueing oral surgery was a pain worse than the extraction.Semper Fi
