Your Favourite Band/Musicians?
All right Clan. Have at it. Who are your favourite musicians and why?
BBQ's top 5:
- John Mayer- Brilliant fusion of the blues and pop.
- Ben Folds- Perfect piano pop.
- Clem Snide/Eef Barzelay-Perhaps the most underrated songwirter of the last decade- Alt Country musician with unparalleled lyrics.
- Fountains of Wayne- Think of the two kids who sat up the back of your english class making funny inside jokes starting a band. Add an ear for pop harmony and a cracking guitarist and you Have Fountains of Wayne.
- Stevie Ray Vaughan- The blues personified, one of the greatest 'white' bluesmen of all time.
Re: Your Favourite Band/Musicians?

Fields Of The Nephilim: Elizium is the best album ever made. Full stop.
Smashing Pumpkins: Immaculately crafted songs.
Dire Straits: Fantastic guitar work and songwriting.
Rolling Stones: Epitomise rock and roll.
P.U.S.H. : The best trance/dance music on the planet.

Adam Schlesinger and Chris Collingwood are two talented guys that have never really gotten their due. Too bad most people can't get past "Stacy's Mom" because there is so much more to this band.
Although my musical taste is constantly in flux, here are a some bands I could listen to anytime, anywhere:
Bad Religion
UFO
NOFX
The Doors
Reverend Horton Heat
Supersuckers
Led Zeppelin
Bruce Springsteen (the 70's version)
Re: Your Favourite Band/Musicians?
Although my tastes are varied, here are some of the old standby's that always work for me:
Van Morrison
Bruce Springstein
The Alman Brothers
Stevie Ray Vaughan
Bob Dylan
Steve Winwood
Aerosmith
Of course, there are so many more. But, this will give you an idea of my generation and tastes. That's a full night right there.
Re: Your Favourite Band/Musicians?
WOW....interesting thread. Not sure I can name favorites. Here are some I like.
Motley Crue, Eagles, Whitesnake, Ozzy, Billy Joel, The Doors, The Who, Neil Diamond, Toby Keith, Garth Brooks and on and on
Has anyone heard David Cook from American Idol?? He is the bomb!! Such a unique voice. He will make it big.
Re: Your Favourite Band/Musicians?
The Supersuckers.....saw them three years ago here in Austin and they were fantastic.

They screened bits and pieces here in Australia, and he was the pick of the bunch. Seems like a genuine talent, much unlike some of the other "man of the moment" finalists who fizzle after their first single. It's interesting that commercial backing will only get you so far.
It's also interesting that a guy like David Cook gets a guernsey before somebody says "Pink Floyd", "Guns n Roses" or "Eric Clapton"
We've also been selling a lot of Weezer's new album of late, in at our CD store. I really like it. Possibly one of my favourites this year.
In terms of this year's best releases, here's my half-yearly roundup:
Counting Crows- Saturday Nights and Sunday Mornings
Elvis Costello- Momofuku (after the inventor of the cup-o-noodles)
Death Cab For Cutie- Narrow Stairs
Eels- Meet the Eels/Useless Trinkets
Eef Barzelay- Lose Big
Weezer- Weezer (Red Album)
Jason Mraz- We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things
City and Color- Bring Me Your Love
Sarah Bareilles- Little Voice
This is all subject to change pending the new releases of (notably) John Mayer and Ben Folds in the coming months.
