Karaoke at the Bash?

I was talking with Dez, and we are thinking of seeing if it might be feasible to have karaoke as part of the dinner festivities on Saturday night of Bash weekend. My thought was that we could do it as a fundraiser for the site, with attendees "bidding" to hear other members show off their singing skills.

What do you think? Like the idea? Hate it?

I don't know that the bidding will work. The last karaoke two years ago had a few ClanRammers, but that was about it.

Where may the Bash be this year ??? I would be willing to set it up if it's not set yet. Karaoke may work in the right place with the right folks.

Yes, but that was because it was on Sunday night after most people had departed.

My thought is to do it on Saturday night at the dinner at Jake's (we would hire a DJ w/a portable karaoke machine).

Karaoke is not my cup of tea. So one vote for NO. A huge part of my Bash trip each year is to chat with friends that I only see once a year if that. I guess it's the socializing part of the Saturday night dinner that is so awesome. Seeing new friends and making more is the highlight of the evening for me. No additional entertainment is required.

I'm neutral... I'll sing if it's there and if it's not, I'm like Maineram... I'll be the social butterfly...
Wait... I'll sing IF Dez happens to bring some more of his homelands finest... or If I find sufficient quantities of our homeland's finest...

I agree. Karaoke can be entertaining, but it's definitely an interaction killer. The face to face time we get on Saturday night is special and as maineram noted, a once a year opportunity. I had an incredible time last year meeting members and their families and can't wait to take advantage of every moment I get to do the same in September.

Karaoke probably would have killed off the opportunity that we had to meet the alternate Dallas cheerleader that liked Lynne and Lis so much. Sometimes the best entertainment is free and unscheduled.

I like to have a bash on a karaoke, but I am too a very social animal. I like to flit about and mingle too.

I'm with Rick NO......... to Karaoke, people just want to chat and have drinks, its one night that we all get together and talk Rams...

Now a pole dancer ( not Randy please lol) yep we would be interested!!! don't tell LIS!!

Karaoke just happened to fall into that bash very spontaneously. We were at the Feisty Bulldog after the game, they already had Karaoke set up, and several of the people that we were with got up and sang songs. It think this worked out so well because everyone already knew each other and we were happy with the win. Other people in the bar were jumping up on stage also.

A few people like Rampower, BRM, AvengerRam, etc are attention hounds and would love to do this, but I think most people would prefer to not participate. Perhaps we could check and see if there is a karaoke night somewhere close and go there after the Bash dinner.

So, what you're are all saying is that this is the worst idea since the Rams declined to re-sign London Fletcher and instead signed Jamie Duncan?

Fair enough.

Maybe we'll do another raffle instead.

Well I guess that is one way of saying it.

I still think after the Bash, anything goes, especially if there is a bar that has open mic nearby.

I just don't think it will have the desired outcome for raising funds. Now Steve's request for a pole dancer might work but I'll just have to see how I feel at the time. I'm not in my pole dancing shape like i was when I was younger. Besides, the last time I pole danced, my G-string popped and blinded a woman in one eye. Another drunken woman then swiped her ATM card in my crack, then took a $20 bill I had made as a tip. I bet you guys thought that pole dancing is all glamour, didn't you?
