Most of them are likely terrified Seattle fans hoping against all hopes that half our starting lineup is injured .. My heart goes out to them ..

I think it's something called a web crawler or spider that causes there to look like there are so many guests. If you google that term I think you'll have your answer.

    Decorum on the Forum
    by NJ Ramsfan1
When I joined this forum a year ago, I anticipated talking with a lot of knowledgable fellow Rams fans and have not been disappointed. The conversations have been good ones and many times thought provoking. But the one peeve I have is that there are a few on board who seem to delight in arguing even the most benign observations, offer sarcastic responses or generally try to draw the ire of the poster. I think it's unnecessary and detracts from the Forum.

I'm certainly not talking about challenging someone's opinion- which is the way we generate discussion, offer viewpoints and talk over an issue. It's the picking apart of every word a person says and the intolerance shown by some in making their own point on an issue. Some of those who use the buzz phrases about "having patience", "being positive", "showing your loyalty", etc. also seem to feel that the best way to get their message across is to try to make the other person feel like an idiot.

Everyone on this forum has varying degrees of knowledge about the Rams- some more than others, depending on age, experience, etc. No one needs to be beaten over the head with an "I have more knowledge than you" post in tone, if not actual words.

I am one of many on the board whose opinions are occassionally rejected- which is fine if the criticisms are fair. I have occassionally used frustration in responding to someone I thought missed the boat completely- which is wrong. I include myself when I say that a better overall effort must be made to respond in kind to posts we don't necessarily agree with.

I think the losing has gotten to many of us.

The Fans DO Have a Say: Help Study Ourselves (HELP!...please)
    by JM7
Hey everyone, I am currently working on a Discourse Community Ethnography for my critical writing class. In a nutshell, a discourse community is any group of people that have a set of goal and use communication to reach those goals. The goal of the assignment is to study a discourse community and then write a short case study to that community. Naturally I selected the Clan for my study. All of my research is based on the work of linguists John Swales, Ann Johns, and Elizabeth Wardle. For part of my research I need the input of members of the community, so If you could, can you take the time to respond to the following questions? Feel free to add any information about ClanRam you would like to share. Thanks in advance!

    1. What goals do you have as an individual in this community and for the community as a whole?

    2. Can you describe the lexis (the way we speak, any specific terms, ect) that we use?

    3. What mechanisms of communication do you use to contact other members?

    4. Does the community utilize and posses one or more genres of writing? Which ones?

    5. Does the community have a reasonable ratio of novices and experts contributing to the community?

    6. What are the most memorable conflicts within the community? How were they solved?

    7. What are your favorite memories as a member of the community?

    8. Have you ever felt that your views or values have been in conflict with the community?

    Why Has ClanRam's Activity Declined?
    by AvengerRam
Using my Ronco automatic worm can opener, I'm going to ask a difficult question.

Why has this site's activity declined in recent years?

The poll offers several options, and you may select as many as you wish.

You can also write in reasons.

The reason I'm asking this now is that I noticed that one of our "competitors," RealRamsFans.com is no more. I don't want to see us go down that road, so I'm offering a way to diagnose the issue.

I will also say from my part that I won't hold anyone's answer against them.

    So... here we go.
    Its you, Av.

The Post-Dispatch's "Ram Talk" Forum Represents the Worst of Rams "Fans"
    by AvengerRam_old
Like many of you, I venture over to the PD site on a fairly regular basis for Rams news. Like some of you, I occasionally make the mistake of opening a thread or two on the "Rams Talk" forum. Good Lord... those people are more full of crap than a broken porta-potty at a chili cookoff during a dysentery outbreak. The majority of them have no business calling themselves Rams fans at all. I guess the best use of that forum is to show what real non-fans are like. Sure, we have our spats around here...

You can tell it's summer when....
    by RamsFanSam
You can tell it's summer when you look at the Clan 6 or 7 times on a Sunday afternoon, and there are only 3 or 4 threads that are active.

Only 45 days, 6 hours, 10 minutes, and 51 seconds until the day of the first preseason game. Click the address below to see the countdown clock.
