Did anyone catch Travis Pastrana win the Moto X Best Trick with a DOUBLE BACKFLIP! Probably THE greatest extreme sports trick of all time. If he misses, he could have easily been killed. Absolutely SICK!

It was great seeing that trick. He is a local boy in these parts and comes into my restaurant from time to time. How about Shaun White coming close to landing the 1080. I remeber seeing him when he was a twelve years old doing hand plants on a vert wall at the Temecula Skate park. To think some people still say these guys are not athletes.

Actually Dez, I'm only over 18 in years, not mentality.

It's definitely looking like the Travis Pastrana show, and he still has two events to go.

That double back flip was amazing. I had hear rumors that Pastrana had been working on it. Pastrana is truly one of the craziest guys out there. He's had so many injuries doing the extreme events. I have a few friends that ride and they often say that Pastrana could have been one of the top motocross guys if he ever stayed healthy.

Welcome to our next Ram guest interview. Hall of Famer 2001 inductee, Jackie Slater. Mr. Slater was more than kind enough to let me sit with him while signing autographs for fans at the Naxcom yearly sportscard event held in Los Angeles at Hollywood Park and Casino right next to the famous L.A. Forum. My special thanks goes out to Kevin at naxcom.com for making this cherished moment possible. - Jonathan Fenno - LA-Rams.com

                            Jackie in a 3-Point Stance
"Hello Jackie, I wanted to start off back in your rookie year, tell us about the first two big games you played in, the 1976 NFC Playoff and Championship games."
Jackie Slater - "Well that was one of those great games (the Championship game against the Vikings) we thought we had won. I remember that. Ron Jessie catching the ball and just barely getting the first down, and then they remeasured it and saying that he was shy, and it wasn't. Then shortly after that I remember that field goal getting blocked by Krause and they took it all the way back on us for a touchdown. We were one game away from the big Super Bowl my rookie year, and it REALLY whetted my appetite to get back there again!"
"And that was Tom Dempsey's kick back in '76 that got blocked right?"
Jackie Slater - "Right! Yeah, Tom Dempsey!"
"How about the controversial 4th down call against Dallas during the Playoff earlier that week?"
Jackie Slater - "Oh that was another one. I thought we, I mean I thought that was a bad call to be honest with you, but when you look back in those situations you can see several other situations in the game where we should have won it and so you can't just look at one play."
"Speaking of instances where we should have won it, how about the '77 Mud Bowl?"
Jackie Slater - "AHHH! Ha Ha Ha! Oh man, you're really bringin' back a lot of memories! That was another game that was a lot of fun, had a lot of intensity and it seems back in those days the rivalries with us, the Vikings, and the Cowboys were wild and intense. To lose a game like that, really sticks in your memory."
"Even worse, how about the '78 Championship home game against Dallas?"
Jackie Slater - "Yeah, that was another one. It seems like forever, the Dallas (Cowboys) or Minnesota Vikings, we had to go through them to get where we wanted to be and they weren't to be denied at that time."
"Well, tell us about the great pass protection in '79 for the 50 yard bomb to Billy Waddy in the playoffs!"
Jackie Slater - "Oh yeah, "IN" Dallas! (Smiling proudly.)"
"Yeah, and then what about in Tampa Bay? What are your feelings about those games?"
Jackie Slater - "Oh, those were some big games for us, and I remember having going 9-7 that season,

I'm Watching Amazon's "All or Nothing"........
                            by r8rh8rmike
......and while I didn't expect much, especially since it's based on the Rams' disastrous 2016 season, it's quite good so far, much better than "Hard Knocks" IMO, focusing more on football, and less on silly stuff like mermaids and dinosaurs.

Last season was a blur for me, and I'd forgotten how great the start was, and how much excitement most of us had at 3-1. Watching the season crumble all over again is a bit tough, but the insight, emotion, and behind the scenes dialog is very entertaining, and getting me ready for Rams football.

I'm on episode 8, and would encourage anyone who has the opportunity, to check it out.

                            When.....
                            by Rambitious
.....did you become a Rams fan?

For myself it was 1970. I was just a kid in Northern California (we had moved up from Southern California 4 years earlier) and was just becoming interested in football.

I remember the Rams had just finished some good years in the 1960's and in 1970, '71, and '72 they had mediocre years.

Then the great defensive teams of the 1970's emerged, and the Rams got a steady if not explosive offense to go with it. Their offense was the original 'ground chuck' a trademark of then head coach Chuck Knox.

Well that's when I became a fan. How about you? When did you first become a Rams fan?

                            Let's hear it!!! :-)

                            :p

Anyone else watch this show? I picked up a sample disc of some HBO programs in Best Buy, watched the pilot for Deadwood, and got hooked. This is a new kind of Western, and definitely succeeds in delivering some great acting and writing. I would recommend it if you enjoy HBO-type dramas. Unfortunately, it looks as if I'm late to the party as the series is coming to an end - I think Season 3 is wrapped up and there aren't plans for a fourth season but rather some two-hour movies to tie up loose ends.
